#84013, "NOS(brand) system deal"

I talked to a guy on dsmtrader and he wants to sell me his nitrous system for 170 shipped with out the bottle. He claims that everything is there except bottle and warmer.Do you think this is a good deal?i also asked for pictures but he says he doesn't have a digital camera. also he said it was used for 3 runs? anybody know what thats suppose to mean? help please cause i don't want to be ripped off..i also asked him for what exactly the kit includes and asked if he could list off everything in the kit. I also offered to pay by COD or through ebay..cause i figured if he didn't send exactly what he was suppose to then i could go through ebay and get some legal action. What you guys think?input is appreciated.

he could be legit but spend the extra and get one complete kit with the bottle and... pics help to see what your getting and if the seller won't do a cod pay with paypal. Its a buyer beware thing so buy at minimal risk, this sounds like there alot involved and theres a whole web full of kits forsale. And fyi 170 without the bottle is an "ok" deal but not the greatest. Buy jwoodlys zex kit for 500 with lots of extras , that is a good deal.

And even though its a nitrous ? I think its more of a ? for the general forum.

I have to agree with hatter. Since from your question alone you don't really know exactly what is needed to piece together a kit, I think it would be in your best interest to get a full new kit. This way you can be assured all the fittings, relays, lines, etc. are there (and instructions don't hurt). You don't want to be chasing down fittings, bottle nut adapters, high pressure SS lines, etc. If you are fairly experienced then it's not a big deal to piece together a kit because you know what you'll need ahead of time.

I'm not a big fan of zex kits, but if its a decent price then go for it. Although I've heard on some years of 2gnts the tps voltage was insufficent for the wot switch that came with the zex kits. I've seen a NX kit on ebay called the Mainline kit or something along those lines and can tell you from experiance that NX makes quality stuff. The kit is basic and goes for around 360 or so. Its a good starting point for a nitrous kit from what i can see. If nothing else go for a regular NX wet kit. Many people on this board can vouch for the quality of NX products. PLus they have a lifetime warranty on the solenoids, if one ever goes bad you can send it back to them to be rebuilt with a decent turnaround time.

There is a NX one on there, just that i like the plug and play of the ZEX kit and it just looks easier and (less messier) to install. The kit had the WOT switched out with a firing button(tahts waht the seller said) so i would want to switch it back to wot. Can somebody confirm this with me?A wot switch is what hooks up to the TPS...well..i always step on my gas to the floor when racinig but its bad to use nitrous before 3k, how would i do it then? after about 3k flip the switch and just keep my foot to the floor?then turn it off again, shift then floor it and flip it again? i'm so confused? whats a window switch?how does that hook up? cause i know its like something that allows nitrous to only flow at certain rpms and is that hard to hook up/set up and where could i get one?thanks for any replys, i really appreciate it

I'm going to answer one question and ask another, when you answer mine I will answer the rest of yours.

Heres the one I'm answering. you can get the window switch at summit racing, heres the link
http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=rpm+window+switch&x=0&y=0&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp

Now my question.....how much have you read about n2o and its application?

I'm not being a dick.....but it will better help me to answer your questions. Also at MSD.com you can download all the directions for the instal of a rpm window switch. You might not need alot of your questions answered after that, but I'd still help you out if you need it. emoji

Ok. So a wot switch (micro switch) doesn't use the tps. You can mount it behind the gas pedal or at the throttle body. Either way is ok, as the pedal reaches the floor the arm engages the switch (makes contact) and your n2o will engage same at the throttle body. You mount it so at full throttle only it engages the switch. The switch is really only an interupter till activated ( allows full circut). If this is your first time with n20 then you should also or in place have a rpm window switch. That will allow you to concetrate on driving and not worring about buttons or switchs. As you develope your skills with n20 and adjust your racing skills a little, ( meaning ) you can launch at 60-80% throttle and take off alot faster feathering the clutch instead of the pop and mash way. Both those devices are very easy to install with the supplied instructions, And like you said you can always find any missing answers here if you run into trouble. A nice feature of the rpm switch is you can adjust the settings (engagement) to your best performance/traction and rpm wise for when you know your a/f is ready for a shot. A good place to start the first couple of runs is 6000 on and 6700 off. A couple pass's like that then bring it down a notch or two. 5700 on 6700 off. And really ...don't spray below 5000 its not worth taking the risk if your stock.

Yeah, I saw his website before and had my doubts. There is a lot of good info but I'm not completely sure it's 100% unbiased. For instance he hates American N2O systems injetors because the jets are at the injector not the solenoid, this is a problem why though? Im still reading through, better to know how he does it along with everyone else's way then to only know one way to do it.

I kind of meant by like buying a NX fuel solenoid, then buying a NX nitrous solenoid, lines, and switches, all seperately from different people etc and just peiceing it all together. Has anybody done this successfully or did everybody just buy a kit?

I read this guy's site pretty well and, umm, don't do this. There is some good info there but for the most part he is a crazy British nut. When I worked in the machine shop there was a guy that always came around the shop that did stuff like this. Came up with cheap 'innovative' ways of doing things, he was a painter, and I think the fumes got to him. But there is some good info there, as his schemes are based on some fact.

As for the NOS system pieced together, I priced it out a couple times as far as buying individual new parts from NOS instead of a kit and it turned out to be a little more expensive that way. As far as used parts, I'd trust everything used other than the solenoids, as most everythying else is just hard parts with no moving inner workings (except the valve on the bottle, your call)
