your spring in the bov is probably too stiff....i have an rfl and with the extra washers it wouldnt blow off when reving, but as i took some out it works fine.... check with that, if not, boost leak somewhere or just a shitty turby...

Or your turbo is too large.

Why does it matter? The point of a turbo system isn't the BOV.

i agree, yeah, the point of a turbo is to go faster, but the little things it does are also important to me, i.e...blowing off the bov on a rev, even though mine doesnt do it either...wish it did emoji

Its okay.

The HKS SSQV is the riciest BOV around imo.

We have one on the Silvia. I fucking love it when it blows off 15 psi.

Truely in the bottom of my heart love it emoji

But doing it just to "have" that sound, is not cool. It's an essential part of a turbosystem.

As you can tell jeremey, I'm getting that stocker from you as it more suits my tastes emoji

exactly, the reason I got my turbo kit was because I wanted more power. The bov is just a plus, and I don't want the bov to go off when I rev because I am going to rev on everyone at every light and want them to know I have a turbo either. I just love that sound....there is just something about it that I love. emoji

I agree with you. although, i personally would blow it off at every fucking person that pulled up next to me LOL

Some people on here are so closed minded, and think that everyone is a BANME! and nobody deserves to have a turbo except them because only they have a turbo for the "right reason" blah blah blah.

for example, the people that say "OMG he said honda!!!! kill him, he said honda!!! AAAAHHHH" it just gets old.

So what if the guy wants to hear his blow off valve, maybe he did buy the whole damn kit JUST for the bov sound... its his money and he can do what he wants with it. He asked a simple question, he didnt ask what the purpose of turbo kit is, he is basically asking how to do it. Im not pointing anyone out directly, but when a moderator stoops that low its just pathetic. Get off your high horses. I know im gonna get flamed for this, i get flamed for everything i say on this board so i really dont care anymore but some people on here just think they are so frickin cool and like i said, its pathetic.

he means dino, which isnt a mod anymore. i kinda like this guy, lol. he has a good attitude.

any way back on subject. i have the blitz DD BOV and when i had the spring half way down, you could barely hear it when rev'd up and you had to rev it REAL high to hear it sound off, so i loosened the srcew up some and it sounds like a gst does, real smooth emoji

personally I like my subtle 3000gt valve... No one know it is a turbo till it is too late. My GST with the Greddy is another matter :O)

probably because there is no load at idle?
so your turbo really should not be spooling anyways.

You should be able to get it to sound just by revving the motor. But the kind of BOV, and how tight it is, makes the difference here. Basically, you should have the BOV adjusted so it opens when you let off the gas, around 2 psi or so. If you have to run more boost for the BOV to open, then you are running it too tight. Your only main concern when adjusting the bov, is so that it doesnt leak at full idle vacuum. That would be bad, since unfiltered air can enter the system. Dont get confused either, by having a loose spring or loose setting on the BOV will make it leak under boost. Thats really not possible since you have positive boost pressure on both sides of the bov piston under boost.

I use the TurboXS type H34 bypass valve. It's just like the RFL, but instead of the cone outlet, its just a round one, for a hose connection. So I just routed a hose from the bov outlet, back into my intake pipe to the turbo. I did this for mainly 2 reasons: one was to keep the sound level down a bit..insane loud bov gets annoying after a while, so now, it still is loud, but sounds really nice. Second, it helps to keep the turbo spooled up between shifts. Thats not a big factor with the S16G, as its not a laggy or huge turbo, but it did help a bit. I have my bov adjusted pretty loose, where it does leak at idle, but it doenst matter since its being recirculated anway. I can make my bov go off BEFORE boost..like at 2-5 hg's of vac, and quickly let off the gas, i can hear a little bov whoosh emoji

You should mount a dog whistle to it. that way no one can hear it but every time your BOV goes off all the dogs in the neighborhood freak out.
