i also got my kit from coolingmist...the guy was real helpful...he also said to put it before the intercooler so it has more time to atomize...i was checking out FAQ's on aquamist.co.uk...and i found this:
13. Where do I place the water jet? Normally immediately after the intercooler unless the intercooler suffers from heat soaking such as the type that is fitted on top of the engine (Subaru, GTI-R, Toyota Celica and etc).
14. Surely if the jet is placed before the intercooler it will have better cooling effects? Not quite true. If the air entering the intercooler is pre-cooled, the cooling efficiency of the intercooler will drop due to the smaller temperature differentials between the ambient air and induction air within the intercooler core. Secondly, there is also a possibility that the hot air from the turbo may cause unnecessary vaporisation of the injected water thus taking up precious volume that was intended for the charge air.
15. Should the water jet be facing the direction of the in-coming air? Two possible locations, if the jet is to be installed along an induction pipe, point it at 90 degrees to the direction of the air flow. Position the jet furthest away form the throttle body as this will enable better mixing and intercooling properties. If the jet is installed at the end-tank of the intercooler, point the jet in such a way that it has the greatest cavity to accommodate the 90 degree spray pattern.
i think im going to place mine after the intercooler.... i also wouldnt want any moisture sitting in the intercooler, even though there shouldnt be, but just incase....also, what mixture do you plan on using.... i also found this:
9. Why is Methanol better? Methanol itself has a octane number of 113. Not only does it improve your fuel quality, it will also give you a better intercooling effect in the inlet tract.
10. What is the maximum alcohol/ water ratio I should use? No more than 50%, otherwise you will increase the cylinder temperature rather than reducing it. Beyond that ratio, onset of detonation is more likely. Methanol freezes at -96 deg. C, 50% mixture will stop the mixture from freezing at around -40 deg
and then this:
Methanol in Petrol. This is the best from the point of view of reducing Detonation, followed by Acetone and then Benzole in that order. Methanol can be added in all proportions up to 100 percent, but as an additive limited to 10 percent will give an Octane increase of about 5 points. For example 98 Octane can be increased to 103, or looking at it another way, cheap fuel of say 91 Octane can, by the use of 10 percent Methanol, or approximately three quarters of a pint per gallon, will produce fuel of 96 Octane.
so what kind of ratio do you think? 50/50? thats what i thought but isnt this saying 10% methanol 90% water? what do you guys recomend...also, has anyone found a cheap place to get methanol?
oh, and i also thought that somebody didnt reccomend methanol? anyone know the reason why? thanks
