#82785, "Greeeeeaaaat....I am started to wish I never boosted"

For those of you who dont know what is going on, here is the link to catch you up http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=82578&mesg_id=82578&page=

Anyway, I was cruising around yesterday after finally getting my idle correct and FP good. I went and boosted 6psi and it was fine. I went to try it again and there was very little boost(2psi or something)and my fuel gauge needle started to sputter. I pulled over and checked the SFMU and fuel lines and there was no leaks or anything. I then turn my car back on and my CEL goes away (very odd I think), my FP goes to stock pressure (47-50) and I cant boost anymore and my FP only goes up from 50 psi to 60 psi at WOT. I have my stock FPR disabled (95gs) so that cant be it. I'm thinking my ECU kicked in and adjusted it back to stock. I dont have an SAFC to fool the ECU yet but I think that is what happened. Anyone have any insight???

1st question should be. what was the cel for in the first place? from your first post it seems like it might have soething to do with a vacuum leak or IAC.
if your fuel pressure is not rising as you boost then you have a problem with the vacuum signal to the sfmu, a problem with the diaphragm, the sfmu itself or your stock fpr is still doing something.

you say you are running the missing link?

I just hope I don't have the same issues you do when I do my install next weekend.

Your fuel pressure will only rise under boost. Make sure you dont have a boost leak. Check all couplers and the exhaust manifold. You might have blown a coupler off.

The CEL came on when I 1st changed the injectors and my Idle was all screwed up so I could have been from the IAC but when I got my idle down right and I did the boosting yesterday, it shut off. I may have corrected the idle CEL. Stock FPR is modded using corbin's mod. I will order another diaphragm just to be on the safe side.

no missing link. I am a 95 so I dont need it. I was just getting the SAFC to do some fine tuning

I will check the IC piping and couplers later on today. I know I have an exhaust leak but that is after the turbo so it should not affect anything.

Yeah the only reason why your fuel pressure is only rising a little is because you're only boosting a couple of pounds. I'd defiantly think is was a boost leak. No reason to get discouraged about boosting IMO. emoji

your fuel pressure is way too high, you should be @ about 20 psi of idle pressure with ALL the vacum hoses hooked up, and NO leaks since your using 330cc injectors. Did you look on your sfmu itself and see if there is a crack? I don't know if it was a fluke or not, but blue_mach5 and I found a crack on his BRAND NEW sfmu. It leaked vacum and would not tune right till after we fixed it with some JB Weld. I would seriously recomend you make a boost leak tester. Once you build the tester you will find your leak if you have one. Do a search for it and you will find like 10 posts on how to do this.

I also don't think there is any way for your computer to put your fuel pressure back to stock. If that were the case there would not be a regulator.

O yea get rid of the SAFC before you really fuck up your engine with it.

Boost leak definitley. You think thats scary? Try pushin 10psi on a hi comp motor and have the TB elbow blow off in the middle of boosting. Damn I thought it was done for, lol. Hope you figure it out man. Do a pressure test on your piping. That'll tell.

Success!!!!!!!!! emoji I just finished checking for the boost leak and that was the culpret. I tried adjusting the fuel back down to 20 psi but my car did not like that. So it is now at 27psi and it is fine. I know each When I boost pressure rises now to between 50 an 55psi and for me boosting only 6psi right now that is fine. I am posting a recap now so that when people do a search they can find this under the SFMU search, possibly also under things we have seen before if it is ok with the moderators. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

Good, Try to stay around 30 psi and above so you are actually spraying fuel in and not dripping it in the engine at 20 psi or less.
