Has anyone custom fabricated a heat shield for the HRC manifold? I'm sure it wouldnt be a bad idea, I have been thinking about different design ideas, but I cant find a place to screw in the heat shield for easy removal whenever I need to take the turbo/manifold assembly out. If anyone has any ideas or pictures of what they have done and can post them here or email them to me, it would be very helpful.
Also, I seem to always have a prob with leaky manifold gaskets. Is there a certain patern i need to follow when tightening the manifold? I have been tightening the inside bolts first then working my way out. I dont know if they make a better manifold gasket or not, but now I'm just using 2 stock replacements back to back... -- Brad Rickard 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)

I plan on making a heatshield for my turbine housin. I saw one on a HKS turbo and it looked very nice. It attaches to the bolts that hold the turbine to the bearing housing. Though I'm sure the one I make will be quite ugly, but rusted turbine housing are ugly already.
Here is the pic i saw in the turbo mag!

I've got a couple heat shields. Once by the turbine/downpipe and one over the manifold. The turbine/downpipe one is aluminum flashing with a 1/8x1 aluminum bar bracket bolted to the radiator. The manifold one is aluminum flashing with fireproof insulating board underneath and some aluminum bar stock riveted underneath with a threaded hole. I bent the bracket for the coolant pipe 90 degrees and run a 10mm bolt through it to the threaded hole in the heat sheild. Here's a pic:

Wow Corbin, thats hella phat! Thats what I'm talking about. I got some 1/8'' alum flashing, I am gonna try and make a similar manifold design as yours, too much heat in our engines! -- Brad Rickard 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)
