What's up Fellow DSMer's!?!? I gathered some infos for my 300HP Turbo 420A. That's what I came up with:

JE Pistons-> 8.8:1, 3,464 inch, +0,20 Oversize -Dodge Neon JE Pistons
Eagle Rods-> 5,472 inch stroke
Ferrea Titanium Valves
Ferrea Titanium Valves Retainers
Ferrea Springs
Crower Cams Stage 2-> Not sure about this one since I don't know if they can be use for 420A Turbo application
Port & Polish Head
Vortech SFMU
Garrett GT Series Ball-Bearing Turbo-> Don't know what A/R would suit my project yet
Spearco FMIC
Mendrel Bent Piping
Walbro In-tank Pump Kit-> 255 lph HP
Apexi Boost Controller-> AVC-R
Fuel Rail-> Don't know what brand should I go with. Any suggestions???
Bigger Injectors-> Don't know what size, type(Peak & hold or Saturated) and brand should I go with. Any suggestions???

I need more infos on Intake and Trottle Body. I was thinking about keeping the stock trottle body and port it. As for Intake, I don't know what should I do yet. If you guys got any suggestions, got for it. If there's something missing, maybe I forgot it or I don't know what's missing. Thx guys!!!

Dave

You don't need the fuel rail, the stock one is just fine; 440 cc injectors should do and a modern performance 60 mm tb would be nice.

I could be wrong here, but I think many guys are happy using the stock cams for a turbo 420a application. I seem to remember a discussion that said that upgraded cams have too much overlap (I think Crowers and Cranes). Again, if I'm wrong, somebody correct me and I apologize.

What you want is a higher lift cam, but not as long duration to prevent too much overlap under boost.

The oversize TB will help on the top end, but has a possibility of restricting low end torque because of the decreased velocity of the air at lower engine speeds.

The stock intake manifold should be fine for 300HP.

the stock cam will work but the nitrous profile cams would work better. less overlap so that you aren't losing your pressure

does the lost lower end torque still apply when your turbo? or is that just before you hit boost?

and i think the mani is good for more then 300hp stock, didnt hahn use the stock one up to 450hp?

They were definitely using the stock manifold.

The crane 12's have about 5* of overlap at 0.050 of lift, and I think the crower stage 2's are just a little less than that. You can use adjustable cam gears to help get rid of it to stop the 'blow through'.

The crane 14's have even less, but I'm not a big fan of them due to their smaller exhaust cam. The intake cam is almost identical to the 12's, with a small exhaust cam (similar to the crane 10 exhaust cam).

I think if you go with either the crane 12's or crower 2's you'll be very happy with the results. I believe the crower 2's may work just a little better.

About the 440cc injectors. Should I go with "Peak & Hold" or "Saturated"?? Some say that "Saturated" is the best 'coz it always shoots the right amount of gaz for a given RPM range and some say that "Peak & Hold" is best 'coz it it always shoots the same amount of gaz creating a stronger detonation. What do you think guys??

peak and hold vs saturated have to do with impedance, we need the higher impedance kind, or a resistor ballasts for low impedance injectors,
right now i cant remember which is which.

Peak and Hold are typically low impedence
Saturated (what we use) are typically high impedence. You want these if you are using a S-FMU to control fuel.

The cams you use will also have an impact on the fuel system you choose. The cams (crower 2s, crane 12s, etc ... crane 14s won't because they don't increase the overlap)will typically give you a smaller amount of vacuum at idle thus giving a rich condition that you will need to compensate for but at the same time not limiting the amount of fuel you need at WOT. The best way to do this is either remap the stock fuel map (not easily possible unless you're going standalone) or to have some MAP modification device that will "trick" the ECU into seeing the proper amount of vacuum at idle. Whatever you decide to do this is something that you will definitely run into depending on your choice of cams.
