On monday i did a compression test on my car and everything came up fine. On the way home my engine stalled i thought it was probably something i knocked loose during the compression test. I found that i had a blown motor fuse; i got the car towed home and put in a new 30A fuse but it blew right away. I reset the computer and disconnected the battery; still the same. I got out a test light and found that the circuit was being grounded. I checked everything i could think of and the last thing that i did was disconnect the fuel pump relay and the and the grounding problem went away. I reconnected the fuel pump relay and put in a new fuse and i thought that was the problem. I go to start the car but it still will not start; everything thing else works the starter, lights, radio,etc. except i do not hear the walbro fuel pump turnig on when i try to start the car. Could i have screwed the fuel pump relay during the compression test?

I know EXACTLY what it is.. after you read this check it right away. If you look at the EGR tube right next to or under your intake pipe on the right of the head.. there is a wiring harness that runs across the top of it. More than likely the heat of the EGR tube melted away at this harness insulation and grounded it out. pull that wiring harnes upward and replace the fuse and start the car. I'll put money on it that this is the problem. You know how I know? I myself and two other people had the same thing happen.

i dunno about that but your main motor fuse is at elast 90 amps, the alternator fuse. yeah 30 amps would blow right away

wrong.. the fuse in the fuse box labeled "engine" is 30 amps....

Raizin is right. I had this EXACT same thing happen to me. Same wire too. It melted right through so that it was grounding.

i don't think i have an "engine" fuse. i have an alternator fuse and it's 90 amps and it kept blowin out whenthey installed my battery backwwards and they bridged it with a paperclip and it blew that up to and they wre like oh shit and never thought that they maybe hooked the battery up wrong.

If you open the fuse box under the hood if I remember right it's on the top left one of the larger square fuses, look at the cover with the description.

Well I did find out what was wrong with my car but it still doesn't run. I looked under the intake tube and around the EGR tube and i saw the problem. The main bundle of wires that go to various sensors had the outer black plastic cover melted; which left the bottom wires in the bundle to touch the EGR tube. Three wires that go to the camshaft sensor had the insulation melted and were grounding to the EGR tube, and one wire that goes to the EGR sensor also was exposed and grounding out. I wraped all the exposed wires with electrical tape but the the engine still doesn't turn over. I ordered a new fuel pump relay because i know the fuel pump is not getting voltage so hopefully that is the problem and i do not need a whole new engine electrical
system.
