Will a T-25 exhaust housing fit upside down, if it's bolted to a flange coming perpendicular off the head? As in clear the hood?

It's for my gt28r, if I clock the housings the wastegate won't fit without a REALLY funky bracket. I'd have to get a normal two bolt internal wastegate actuator (~$75) plus make a flange for that too.

It has to be bolted upside down for my compressor housing to point down.

I'll have to clock the center section for the oil to flow down of course.

When I had my T25 I had to bend my bracket and straighten the actuator arm a bit for it to work correctly. I really hate to say it but I wish I would have invested in a external unit instead of the customizing of the stock internal. I have a feeling that it did not regulate boost as well as it should have.

As for hood clearance, I had to angle the manifold to turbo flange quite a bit to get it to clear the hood. This also made it harder to get the turbo to bolt up to the manifold.

Does your's look like this one?

Yup, that's the one.

:/ I have a hahn style log manifold where the flange comes straight off the middle.

Did you actually try closing the hood with it like this?

Yes I did, it needed about 3/4 of an inch to clear.

I don't know if you have imagestation account, but here is a pic of the angle I had to modify the manifold to fit.

and one with the t25 bolted up to it

and here is one with it bolted up to the car

Don't get it too close, it will heat your hood up and burn your paint off. Your going to need a couple inches of clearance to ventilate properly. I would suggest cutting the flange off the manifold and repositioning it.

I have an Evo hood, it's got the air vents right where the turbo and manifold sits. Well, when I get it all installed.

Sweet. I'm sure a carbon fiber hood will really hold up to that 1600*F turbine. That shit is magic, I swear. emoji

ETX is correct, you will still need some xtra room else your hood will get hot and the finish could crack/bubble. My radiator actually melted from the heat where it was too close.

That sucks man, I would get a new manifold or try etx's idea of chopping the flange off.
