#81265, "Star Stage 2 replacing parts before install ??"

Hey, I am soon to buy the star stage 2 kit and was wondering what you guys thought about the kit. Is there anything the kit comes with that I should replace before I install it? Or is everything pretty good? Let me know, my engine will be fully built at 8.8:1 and I want to run 15 lbs of boost. Let me know guys, this will be my first turbo.

get a sfmu instead of the fmu that it comes with. Add a flex section to the downpipe. you are forewarned, the manifold is a bitch to install

question: is the downpipe that bad? I've read some say it's not a problem. do you just use like autozone flex?

you can probobly get away with no flex, but it will crack eventually. just use any 2.5" braided flex section

So cut out a section of the downpipe and add some of the braided flex? Do I cut the middle of the downpipe and take out the same length of of the flex that would be installed? Also, should I just buy one of those t3/t4 manifolds that are on ebay? Or will everything still line up right? Also, what sfmu are you useing instead of the one in the kit? I'm going to just buy this stuff now before I get the turbo kit so I don't have to deal with it. Thanks for all of your guys input so far though, I really appreciate the help.

Just get a small flex section and take it to an exhuast shop and they'll get it on the downpipe for you.

Here's a link to one of the turbo manifolds on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7947080226&category=33742

Here's another one.

Also will I need to get rid of my AFX Race ecu if I go turbo?

As stated in your other thread, it's not necessary but I would personally run a stock ECU. Timing advance can be good and bad but if you're just starting out I would recommend against it.

In my opinion yes. You shouldn't have an issue selling that ECU here. The wait time to get them from Howell is still outrageous (spelling).
