#81219, "star stage 2 turbo kit"

i have a bone stock 1999 gs and am new to turbo. im planning on buying the star stage 2 kit and would like to run 7-8psi and it would be a daily driver. what i would like to know is what else should i buy that the kit doesnt include so i can get the best results at that boost level without worrying about damaging anything? i tried doing a search but everything was about building your engine with it and i dont plan on doing that anytime soon. so any info/advice would be greatly appreciated. thanx

Buy the kit, bolt it on, drive it, blow it up. Cycle of life here at 2GNT.com

Its good you used the search, but I'm sure you will get flamed. Buy the turbo kit, build the engine. Your stock engine will eventlually blow up.

buy the kit and do not go over 8psi, plan on upgrading the injector to 35# possibly if you want to stay on a stock motor. Upgrading the fuel system regulator and go to a SFMU or Craptech with those injectors and you will be fine.

Best way to ease yourself into turbo's would be buy the kit, set it at 6psi and drive daily and read all you can here and other sites as well. Once you have the kit we (2gnt) will guide you through upgrading the fuel system to fit your needs.

before you are done you will be building your motor (for over 8psi)...I give you a year and you will want 15psi, its a compulsive desire to continue building....lol

By no means am i saying you cant do 8psi on a stock motor i am just saying you need to learn alot about our motors and how they react with turbo and tunig before you start pushing things to their potential

I have to fully agree with the post above.

Also, another option that I never wanted to hear when I was going turbo, but it's something you should def. consider, is getting an awd gsx. Yes I'm sure you've heard this a lot from stock turbo dsm owners, but really consider this. Your going to want more boost, because after spending 3-4 grand (3 grand for the turbokit around and there's ganna be misc things you'll need that will add up) on a turbo setup, your going to want more boost than a crummy 6-8psi. Stock turbo eclipse with little to no modifications will be able to beat u and here u are having 3-4 grand into your engine having a hard time keeping up with them.

Think hard about this, our cars weren't made to hold boost, it will cost u so much more to be able to reliably have a turbo car and then you can only have so much power. My advice to u, coming from a 2gnt turbo owner is to take that 3-4 grand, and sell your car and get a gsx. I'm sure we've all thought after going through all this "damn what if i started with a gsx, I'd have had traction and the money I spent on this car I could have had so much more with my gsx, and I could have sold it eventually" but after u spend so much on your nt, you won't wanna sell it cause you'll loose so much.

Really think about what your getting yourself into, and keep in mind there is already a turbo version of your car out there, not only that but there's an awd turbo version...(hope I don't get flamed for this but I had to be real with em).

Bit and owned by boost bug!

thanx for the responses. my situation is basically that i dont want to buy a different car cuz i dont want a higher car and insurance payment but i also dont want to drive a slow car anymore so thats why i decided to go with the turbo kit. i just want decent boost (8psi) without worrying about blowing my engine thats why im asking you guys what else i should get to accomplish this as well as any accessories i should get. i dont need any more boost than that right now cuz i got my motorcycle to satisfy that need for speed. thanx for the help.
