#81134, "why does my zex dry kit work on my 97 eclipse?"

well when i first hooked it up i thought that there was a vacuum line for my fuel press reg. so i found the one line from the FPR above my gas tank that leads to the very front of the car and then it turns into a metal tube near the EVAP canister and all that. and that the line i dissconnected from the front and connected to my regulator port on my zex control module. then the intake port i just hooked to vacuum like zex says. but now im not sure exactly what that line is that i have hooked to the module. i know it comes from the regulator on the tank but i dont know what it is. and now knowing this i am wondering how my zex dry kit is working ? because i am running a 75 shot and it doesnt get lean at all when i shoot it , it stays rich like always according to my A/F gauge? but it technically shouldnt work but it is?
also to fix this could i eliminate my stock FPR and add an fmu or somthing? if so how would i have to hook it up? 1997 eclipse RS

:EEk

not gonna touch this one. FPR above the fuel tank? the stock FPR is attached to the fuel filter beneath the car in front of the passenger rear tire...

and why would you need an aftermarket fpr??

You should take your car to a mechanic to have it checked over or someone who knows about nitrous kits... sounds like yours is set to blow.

well ya, not above fuel tank but wher u said. i do actually know what im doin but im not sure what line its hooked to. maybe the evap canister line. but point is when i use it car stays rich . so thats my question , why does it stay rich even if it not hooked up to FPR? is the ecu adding more fuel automatically when i spray or something

You cant "hook up to" our FPR. Its preset and has no vac lines to it even. Still have absolutely no idea what you are talking about? Why would you hook it to your evap system?

EDIT: nevermind... I just read this thread:

You will only need a FMU(vaccum dependent) if you are running boost, but even then those don't work that great either. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If not, your local parts store should have a fuel injection kit that has a crappy gauge that could tell you your idle pressure. I don't understand why you would add a FPR and not know what the fuel pressure is? It seems kind of scary to install a FPR and not know what the pressure is. Report back with more info

Alright you fucking n0000bs listen up...

You cannot run a dry kit on late 96+ 2gnt's. They do not have vacume assisted FPR. So what is going to happen is, you will be spraying that n20 in your intake stream without ANY FUEL ADDED. You car will blow the fuck up. You need to run a wet kit, this will send the correct fuel and n20 into your intake stream. If you are telling me that you ran a 75 shot without any fuel you are a fucking liar. Or your car no longer runs right, lol.

You cannot run a dry kit period. Either buy the pieces to adapt a wet kit or take it out. Use the search function if you want to know more details. There is plenty of info.

oh btw, is blantly obvious you have no idea what your doing.

some of u ppl are real dumbasses.. id put money on it that i can build motors and do alot more with cars than all you who run your mouths. and ya i guess my eclipse aint runnin no more. ha . too bad i drive it everyday. and my zex kit does work with a 75shot and still runs rich. and it aint even hooked to the regulator. its hooked to the line from the tank to the evap canister.. so dont run your mouth unless u got something useful to say.

Uh...ok dude, maybe the above guy went about it with a tad harsh of an attitude...but he was right. Let me try. Ive built countless 420A motors, ran every kind of nitrous setup you can imagine. Your zex kit, if it is dry...will NOT work correctly on your 97+ year N/T Eclipse. Period. i bet you have a blinky light air/fuel gauge that you are basing this "it stays rich" comment on, right?? throw it away...and buy at minimum a digital A/F gauge. a dry nitrous kit hooked up wrong, will "appear" to work ok...it will spray nitrous, car will get faster, and your blinky light gauge might say its "ok". But, please...PLEASE listen to me dude, when i tell you...its NOT working right. i dont want to see you blow up your engine man. be safe, do the smart thing...take off the dry kit, sell it, and buy a wet kit.

2- your pics kick ass and where you find all these pictures, i dunno, but keep it up.

as in my 2 cents for this guy, listen to these guys who know what they are talking about, they helped keep me from blowing up my engine countless times unitl i realized and started searching, trying to get out of the noo0b questions sometime soon emoji

oh dear! There has to be a way to make it into a wet kit. Maybe you could ? I say sell it and get a used wet kit. I personally wouldent fuck with a dry kit unless you like blowing thing up and spending more money. You could hook up an other solenoid and fun a fuel line if you wanted but it would be ghetto.

ok . well my other question would be. what if i was to eliminate my FPR from my 97 setup and just buy a normal vacuum fpr? i could jus run lines to it and hook it to vacuum and then properly run the kit. or is there a certain reason 97+ uses the kind it does? i have a 95 talon. i could swap fuel rails completely if that would work and just run the lines for it. or would any of this not work.

Too my inderstanding the difference in fuel systems is that the 95 uses a fuel return system, whereas the 96-99 doesnt have a fuel return system.

EDIT: I think by switching them you are opening up a can of worms

Well since you know soooo much more about building engines and things then I do. You would know that it would be a pain in the ass to do so. 1. You would have to run a vac line alllll the way back to the tank, ya... thats a good idea.

2. You could cap off a fuel line, run attachment lines and get rid of your fpr. Then you would have to setup the frp up front with additional lines... then you'd STILL BE RUNNING A DRY POS KIT. oh not to mention the fact that you have to run a line BACK TO THE TANK. Which you would know to be beneficial because if you plan to turbo you have to do this anyway.

OR:

Buy a fuel silinoid, fuel line, nozzle and jets. But you knew all that already right?

I think you need to start here at the link below, the one you posted in saying you had a working kit on a 97 with no modification to your fuel system.

Clear your mind of everything you said and read it from the start to the finish. While your there click on the links for zex ect ect and learn as to why you are wrong.

You will also find in that thread the part # for a conversion kit in which to make your dry kit work properly on your 97 its called a "dry to wet" conversion kit needed for running a dry kit on a returnless fuel system. The cost will be cheaper and easier then the frankenfuck set up you plan to run.

Don't get butthurt just read it and learn, you have had very very smart people who know about this tell you your errors now suck it up and learn something. Its OK to be wrong as long as you learn from your mistakes. If the link with links in it below isn't enough for you to make a 180 on what your trying to argue then you are just being an ass to be an ass.
