Okay seriously, can a zex dry kit go on my 97 eagle talon???

I have had a Friend of mine tell me that all I have to do is run an arming switch to the sensor that hooks into the WOT switch

Has anyone heard of this???

Does it come with the NMU? My wet Zex kit does and it uses the TPS voltage to spray. I just activate the NMU and at X voltage the kit engages. Nifty stuff. Feel free to IM me.

the dry kit isnt a good idea
i dont claim to be an expert but
because it relies on a raised fuel pressure to inject the extra fuel
i wouldnt trust the the stock fpr ( i dont see where you have a turbo installed) to raise enough pressure
if you do have a turbo installed
the fuel pressure is high already to compensate for the turbo so a wet kit is a must
the wet kit sprays additional fuel in the intake leaving the fuel pressure alone

zex only says that the wet kit is compatible with the 2g cars
they designed the kit so i would trust their judgement

If you don't plan on going over 100hp shot I say go for it. It will work on our cars if you install it up properly

I wouldnt go over a 50hp shot. It'll be safe, plus you'll like the gains.

The zex is a direct bolt on for a 95'... 96-99 needs to be wet or its not a simple bolt on.96-99 does not have a fuel return line or a vacume hose both of which the zex dry kit needs. Theres a kit for 250.00 that will convert your dry kit to a wet kit..... http://www.zex.com/information/whatsnew/NewsDetails.asp?ListHistoryID=-306923627

zex dry checklist
# ZEX™ Nitrous Compatibility Checklist

* Engine must have a vacuum ported fuel pressure regulator
* Throttle position sensor voltage must pass the following test:
o Locate the T.P.S. (usually directly across from throttle linkage)
o Turn ignition to on position (do not start engine)
o Using a digital voltmeter, check each wire for a low voltage reading of approximately 1 volt.
o Only one wire should have this low voltage with the throttle closed
o While on that same wire, open the throttle completely and check the voltage reading
o If your voltage reads 4.2 volts or higher, you are ready to install your ZEX nitrous kit

I had a zex dry and it would of been a pain in the ass to run it on a 96....add in the fact that it depends on vacume to the fpr to add fuel its really inferior. In my opinion you got a sweet deal on the dry kit just spend the money to convert it to wet and save yourself alot of headachs, it will still be cheaper for you to do that than buy a new zex kit.It will make for an easy install. If you need any aviator switches or purge buttons let me know.

Okay I am not the smartest person on this board, but tell me why you can't just hook up a hot switch straight into where the wire for the TPS sensor goes and just run a button instead of a progressive kit??? From what I've heard that the difference between a wet and dry kit at a shot 50 and below is minimal anyways.

Good info Madhatter.

You can run a dry kit right up to the point where the factory fuel system can't provide enough fuel to match the extra oxygen the Nitrous is providing.

Nitrous isn't a fuel, it's oxygen aka air. If your fuel-to-air mixture has too much air, it will blow your engine.

Fortunately, our cars run rich (too much fuel) from the factory for safety, and adding 92 octane will allow them to run even richer. On our cars, the 95 factory fuel system seems to be able to handle at most a 50hp shot. If you could ghetto rig up a 96+ dry kit, I'd say no more than a 25-40hp shot unless you're prepared to rebuild.

There's a hilarious article on the net where some guys put a 150 shot on a rental neon and didn't blow the engine too badly. Can it be done? Sure! Will it last more than a month? Hell no.

1. Ok I'm a little lost right now do you mean button as in a manual button you press? And if so, why would you wire it to the tps?

2. A progressive kit is an addition to a basic nitrous kit aka: progressive nitrous controler.

yea but see the deal is you don't want it to open till WOT that way you don't lean out. That is why ZEX made that kit ....as a fail safe for someone jumping the button and not knowing what his/her A/F ratio is. Thus they figure if used at WOT only it should be at the right ratio to avoid detonation.

Now that is really the least of what you have to worry about trying to run the dry kit in your 97 ...like I said before you don't have a return fuel line or the vacume hose to operate the zex dry kit right in your car without modification to fill those requirements of the dry kit.

now I kinda thought you were maybe saying just screw all that and let me just squeez some shot in? if thats the case you will go kaboom if your not hitting it at WOT anyways so why not just do it right.

did you get any instructions with your kit? because they tell all man even complete fool proof pics as a guide and what the zex kit requires to function properly. I read all there directions like a million times on everything that zex offers. Use this link below to get you started on understanding how the dry kit works.....then read on how the wet kit works with install directions. there directions are in pdf file so make sure you can read them ....you will know when you click the link.
here it is http://www.zex.com/Technical/Instructions/DryNitrousKit/DryNitrousInstructions.pdf

edit: just noticed your post in the F/S section good move the honda boys will snatch it up on ebay with the quickness and you'll make enough to buy another.

And you need to make your fuel system a "return" fuel system. stock, it is returnless, cause the FPR is back by the passenger side rear wheel....not on the fuel rail like Hondas. like i told you in your other post, you better quit spraying with that dry kit and no return line, of you WILL blow it up. and youre giving out bad advice to the thread starter....not trying to be mean, but its the truth.

One thing about the ZEX dry kit i have heard is that you are supposed to run the fuel return line throught the controller box bcause there is a diaphragm of some sort that pinches the return line to raise the fuel pressure to compensate for the N2O. One thing, I "heard" this on the ZEX website, so it has to be true. In any case, you should only run a dry kit on a 95, becuase without it you will run too lean. And I can only assume that you already know how to tell your running too lean with nitrous, when it goes BOOM, that was too lean. By the way, I know he said he was selling the kit, but I thought I would go ahead and supply this info as it might still be useful.
