no, not in THAT department....my other problem.
this one:
http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=78711&mesg_id=78711&page=2

i know this is kind of a dumb question since the logical answer would be to have it physicaly looked at by someone, but i can't do that because of my location (im the most "tuned" import in this shithole town) and the degree of "tuning" i have done. no regular shop will touch it.

im just looking for an advanced "thinking" on what this could be. not someplace to actualy take it, since i obviously cant, but just some opinions or thoughts as to what may be causing it. any one have any ideas or places to call?

Did you check the EGR and exhaust gaskets yet? A leak will look black from the port to the outside edge of the gasket.

ok ticking sounds while cold weather and acceleration...probable causes:
1. sticking valves
2. oil pressure is lower than normal
3. spark knock
exhaust leak would be possible but you said it goes away after the car is warm. but i'd say check your sprak plugs and oil pressure and see if it's fine before going into the valvetrain. when you think about it, if there is noises when your car is cold, it means it has to do something in your engine that is metallic and it's so cold that it is not expanding to normal quickly. that's all i can say about ticking sounds.

I think he said it gets worse under boost and the cold was refering to the weather.

^^^^^correct! EGR is good. cant verify the oil pressure, gauge broke (stock light not on though)

again to clarify, it only does it in boost (beginning to end) and will only do it in boost if the outside air is cold. i dont know what dictates "cold" (temp ranges vary) but it will do it in the early AM or in the night time, but not in the afternoon on the same day...

yea, i have a stethiscope. my AIM is MNOVRSN...

head has: S/S valves, PT lash and rollers, crane 14 cams, crane springs, AEM cam gears all new with less thatn 3500 on it all.
