I have a question about the AeM wide band or any other A/F guage.... I picked one up the other day for a fair price but the person has cut the probe wires on this so that it could pass through the firewall with out a 2 inch hole...

I was wondering if this is going to effect the resistance of the guage or make it read differently if its soldered back to gether? does anyone know if this will affect it?

Good Question?? Not sure, but from electronic class in HS about 6 years ago tells me that. If the soldering job is done right you shouldn't have a problem. I would check the resistance (ohm) after you get done with a multimeter...

The only gauge that I know of that can't have the length of the sensor wire changed is an EGT gauge. EGT gauges are calibrated with a certian amount of wire going from the sensor to the gauge in mind, if you lengthen or shorten it the gauge will be out of calibration.

For just about any other gauge (including type K thermocouples) adding wire won't affect it very much at all, as long as the connections are good. It would be a safe bet that adding wire between the oxygen sensor and the controller or the controller and the gauge won't affect things much at all.
