i have searched and there isn't much about this topic. first off, this is all "hearsay" from the conversation i had with a buddy of mine last week. i haven't done my own investigation yet but i figured i'd throw it out here as food for thought and get some opinions of how it could or could not work for us. anyway, he was telling me about using alcohol over propane or water. he said that alcohol guards an engine against detonation much better than the alternatives and you can run much smaller injectors, thus not spending so much on gas but still maintain high octane levels. apparently he knows a couple "old style buick-turbo tuners" and they've been doing this shit for years. the best thing about it is that you can hide everything to make the engine bay look stock still. (on a buick or gst yes, obviously not with an aftermarket snail kit) the buick guys take the wiper fluid container and mod it for the alcohol setup. sounds interesting, gimme your 2 cents...chris

ok well the whole point of using alcohol injection is to cool the intake charge. in two ways it helps to avoid detonation and pre-ignition. 1 - effectively bumps the octane a little 2 - keeps heat (good cause of detonation) in the combustion chamber under control
i personally run a 70/30 alcohol/water injection setup on my car daily, it works great and yes...you cant even tell i have it
water helps steam clean the engine internals and the alcohol helps it not to freeze. )thats why alcohol is in antifreeze) the heat capacity of water is greater than alcohol, too.
the whole concept is similar to this...blow on the top of your palm. now lick the top of it and blow again, its cooler. same concept applies to spraying h20/alcohol in the intake

Turbo8U, what kit did you buy for the water and alcohol injection? I've read the aquamist version, but is there another one? I am going the megasquirt way with 780cc injectors and I would like to push at least 25psi on pump gas, with the aid of water injection of course. If not water injection with only 20 psi on 91 octane. More info please
