#78360, "thinking about going the cheaters way.. haha"

Well.. Im going back to the dyno in a week with race gas. Going to up the boost to 27lbs.. adjust the cam gears and call it a night.

But what after that? Is it time to start running the spray and hope my floor pans dont fall out?

Ive been thinking about the fuel requirements for such a complicated setup. I have two high flow pumps on the system, Im wondering if I should split off and have a dedicated line for the nos system.

what do you think?

If you upgrade the flow then your inline and in-tank should be plenty. Run 3/8" feed and return lines. That'll probably flow enough for 1000 HP with your current pumps.

What's so complicated about Nitrous?
It's simple really...

And I'm installing my Nitrous this week... but it's gonna have some special uses, some special automated uses... controlled by the MS... emoji

And what happened to your headgasket already? You fix it?

And Nitrous isn't the cheaters way... it's just another way of getting more power out of your motor.

If you're thinking about running a 150-shot or more, you'll want a separate fuel system for the nitrous. Also, if you're going to spray more than a 100-shot then direct port injection is the way to go with a high-HP turbocharged 4-banger.

headgasket has been fixed. car runs just fine.

i think im going to go ahead and setup the fuel system for 150 shot. i dont want to bother having to go back and redo it just to run more spray.

I'm also thinking of going this route. After breakin I am going to be tuning for 20 psi. I also plan on running a 100 shot direct port kit. I have searched about turbo in conjunction with nitrous, but most people just say don't do it. There really aren't many posts on doing it somewhat safely. What should we do as far as ignition retard and other such thing? I would appreciate any info.

There's no good reason to run a direct port 100-shot, put a single nozzle in the intake pipe and be done with it. Don't use nitrous oxide with a turbo unless you really know what the fuck you're doing.

I'm at a crossroads as well on this subject... I'm currently running 24 psi on my s16g with the 034eic and I'm debating between adding nitrous or buying a s25g. Decisions, decisions...

Are you calling me a liar or Bill?

Ive talked to Bill on the phone several times in the past about the portfueler. Ive talked to Craig in person at Nopi about this. Thats what they told me. They said they need spray to get the turbo to spool off the line so they could launch.

Shit, if I can spool the 25g, Ill buy one tomorrow.

With a 15 PSI actuator, it'll achieve full boost around 4000 RPMS. Go buy one tomorrow.

no need to be a dick mr doug.

thats what i was told from both of those guys. why would i lie about something this stupid? i would get benefit out of buying the damn turbo. it just doesn't make sense to lie about something like this.

if i can run the turbo, great, ill buy one rather than run spray, because i dont really want to run spray.

I'd really advise against that. You guys do know that one effect of injecting nitrous is increased boost pressure, right? Even WITH a manual/electonic boost controller. If you're going to spray, rather it be the 16g or 20g... keep the initial boost under 20 PSI. I really think most of you guys are better off with a bigger turbo.

I never said nitrous blew up engines you fuck. You are assuming. emoji
What my comment did mean is, stupid fucktards trying to spray on 21-27 psi DO blow up engines.
Unless you have a firm grasp of tuning, it’s a guarantee you will blow up when spraying on high boost levels. This furthers my statement (opinion) to siueclipse …. BOOM.

Nitrous can work wonders on a turbo charged vehicle with high boost, IF you no what your doing, and have a grasp on tuning.

I shipped two turbo kits this week. Who the fuck cares? Would you like a print out of our gross sales for the month too? emoji
Dumb fuck… lol

We're all here having a good talk about nitrous and you post with "BOOM". That's why you're an idiot. You obviously have never even used nitrous on a turbo engine, so keep your dumb ass out of the thread.

There you go again, assuming.
WTF? How the fuck does my sig pic = owned? Lmao… dude you don’t make a bit of sense.

I have a sneaky Pete nitrous on my car as we speak. It’s a small 30 shot, just to get the turbo going.

You are fucking moron.

Some people are better off banned. It'd be nice to ban people from certain sections as well.

Doug, I would like to ride in your car. =) Aren't you from the southeastern US? Drop me an email sometime. emoji

Are you saying that for most people the S16G would be really inefficient at 28 PSI making it a poor choice at that boost level, but for you it'll magically work great? I don't understand how this would be an advisable option for ANYONE, even you Matt. The nitrous will try to push your boost level from 24 to over 28 PSI. The S16G can't even maintain 28 PSI of boost! I really do advise against it.

I'm also aware that you know your shit Matt. And yes, I think you're better off with both nitrous AND a bigger turbo. I know your engine can handle it, and I know you have the knowledge to tune it. Don't be stupid and spray a bunch of nitrous through your already maxed out turbo/engine setup though. You may not blow anything up but it really isn't the right way to do it.

ok, not to start another wave of attacks, but im sick and damn tired of nitrous being called the "cheaters way" its bolt on horsepower on a switch. maybe not everyone can afford 5K for a rebuild and turbo kit right now. and maybe not everyone wants HP all the time. its something thats nice to have when you need it. how about i just call aftermarket superchargers and turbocharger "cheating". its about the same mentality. if you think bolting up large ammounts of HP is "cheating" then there is something seriously flawed here.

i consider it cheating if you dont tell someone about something. if you bolt on a turbo, have performance mods, nitrous, whatever but tell your opponent that you are stock...yeah, thats cheating. if you say "hey, iv got nitrous and bla bla bla" and he still wants to race he has been made full aware of your capabilities and if he chooses to race and loses, he forfits the right to bitch about you cheating because he knew about everything but your driving skill beforehand.

You people actually tell someone what you have before you race?! You race to race. Regardless of how bad you think you are gonna get creamed or not. I wouldn't want to race only when I think I'm gonna win. Losing isn't that bad.

The only cheating that can be done is if you go throw a screwdriver in his timing belt before the race or go slash a tire or something crazy like that. Not disclosing all your mods before a race isn't a big deal. Hell I don't say anything about my car before a race (though I'm sure someone could conclude I am turbo from the FMIC).

That's what bracket racing is for. emoji

Matt! Long time no post! emoji I had to get rid of my s16g, it wasn't cutting it. After 18 psi is useless. Now I'm running 25 psi on a 25g turbo. It fully spools by 4k, so that gives about a 4k-7k rpm powerband. If you launch properly it's not a problem to keep it in that range.

To be honnest I'm a bit dissapointed with this 25g right now. It's not the turbo, it's my EMS. The stock ecu is just too sloppy for a turbo like this.

Whats up Derek... I'm around here from time to time still, but I keep quiet for the most part. My S16g isn't cutting it at the track either... I'm looking into several different options at the moment.

I'm surprised to hear you say that your S16g is useless past 18 psi. It's definately starting to get out of its efficiency range, but who really cares about that. People who get the most out of their turbos don't operate in their efficiency range anyway. I got the chance to dyno my car here a few weeks ago. I made 287 whp 293 tq at 18 psi on 110 gas and 330 whp 339 tq at 24 psi (same gas) so I know mine isn't useless emoji . Anyway, if I wind up putting an n2o kit on, I won't be running that much boost. I'll drop the boost back into the turbo's efficiency range and start from there. My main reasoning behind doing that over just buying a turbo that flows more is spool-up. I like my quick spooling turbo on a daily basis. It's only when I'm at the track when I get frustrated with my idy-biddy S16g.

Damnit.. can't edit my post anymore... stupid 2gnt emoji

That sucks that you aren't satisfied with the S25g on your car. Are you still using the 034eic??? If so, what are your current settings? I've picked up several little tricks on that thing that may help you to get it running more smoothly (maybe not, but hopefully).

Yep, I'm still using the eic. I tuned it using just the egt as input, and when I finallw got around to puting the wbO2 on it my a/f was dead on! About 11.4 in 3rd and 11.8 in 4th. Nice flat tune! But my Megasquirt just came in the mail, so you know what I'm doing on this wonderful friday night. Solderin. emoji I think once I can tune this thing properly the 25g will come to life. Someone buy my damn 8 injector setup so that I can get some bigass injectors! emoji

Nice! Let me know how you like the MS once you get it up and running. I'll be interested to hear the opinion of someone who's worked with both the 034eic and the MS. I'm hoping I can check it out in person sometime in the spring at Milan. I really want to get over there sometime in the spring to spend some track time with the old MI guys. It's just not the same here in VA.

lol that's funny emoji. I never said I was going to run 24 psi and spray with my s16g you know. I'd rather keep the boost in the turbo's efficiency range while spraying (initially anyway). However, just because you are operating out of a turbo's efficiency range doesn't mean you're making a poor choice. It means you are just getting the most you can out of your turbo whether you do it with or without nitrous. You could run a T-25 at 17 psi (out of its efficiency range) with nitrous and it wouldn't necessarily be a poor choice (as long as it didn't boost creep). It would just be a car using all the air that turbo has to offer and spraying on top of it. As long as you aren't pinging or running too lean, it doesn't matter at all.

The thing is... it really isn't the wrong way to do it... I can run 24 psi and spray, and you're right it probably wont hold 28 psi and it will be out of it's efficiency range, but who cares. As long as it's tuned well, I'll make 450 hp on it just fine...
