Why not? The purpose of a BOV is to allow compressed air to bypass the compressor when the throttle snaps shut. It doesn't matter where it is mounted as long as it is in the intake path. On the SRT4, it's integrated into the compressor housing itself.

Despite what many here might think, its purpose is not to look pretty and go "pssst".

...and is it a holy bitch to block off so one can install a BOV that doesn't leak past 16 PSI.

Go do a BOV search on SRTforums.com I bet you'll have a headache in under 10 minutes. Fucking ricers.

Edit: Don't WRX's have their stockers mounted up near/on the IC?

Yes, the WRX has the BOV mounted to the intercooler. My girlfriend has an 04 WRX. I have heard, however, that blow-off valves perform optimally if placed within 8" of the throttle body. Not sure how much truth there is to that though.
