#77737, "Wastegate with Hahn kit"

If the wastegate is set at 8 psi, if I were to take off the gate & put 8 pounds of weight on the rod it should extend shouldn't it? If that's the case I just applied 40 pounds of weight on my wastegate & the rod barely extended.

I had done a leak test where I was putting up to 20 psi through the system & the rod didn't move at all.

Should the wastegate be this hard to extend?

Sounds like there's something wrong with that wastegate. Not so much from the pulling on it test - but the pressure test. Hook it up to a compressor all by itself and test it out.

Why do you ask? My wastegate rod is very hard to pull out, but its actually only set to 5 psi... Thats pulling on it with the actuator hooked up. You talking about with the actuator unhooked? Mine becomes extremely easy without the actuator.

I guess the reason that I'm asking is because It seems like I'm running out of options as to why I can't generate any boost. I called Hahn today & they said to shorten the actuator rod by 2 revolutions & try that. I did & got the same results, spike +5 boost when the car's starts revving at 3-5k then -10 on the gauge. They also said to remove the downpipe at the catalytic converter. Did that & still have the same results. I've looked and sprayed all vacuum lines to try & find a leak & I can't find anything. At idle I've got my boost gauge up to -2, where as before it was -10.

Everything that I've tried is giving me the exact same results. I finished installing the kit in the car 2 weeks ago, driven the car once mayyybe 10 miles at most, and the car has been in the garage ever since. I really wanna get the car on the road before I need to store it this fall, but like I said, It feels like I'm running out of options with this, and not really sure what to try next (except for testing the actuator directly).

Is the cotter pin broken on the wastegate actuator? That was the problem i encountered. It leaks right through the wastegate and took me forever to figure that out....worth a shot.

Did you build a boost leak tester? Its the only way to find out if you have a BOOST leak not a vacuum leak.

If you put spacers between the two bolts and the housing that connect to the wastegate it will shorten the rod even more...
