#77063, "car is running on portfueler but i have a few 8 inj. setup ??s."

ok. Can someone please explain to me exactly how an 8 injector setup works? 1 pound of boost - ? wtf? lol What am I going to see when im at WOT as far as fuel pressure goes. I have the fuel sending unit on the rail which houses the stock injectors.

I have the idle set to 55psi. I noticed the HRC instructions didn't even mention where to set the idle fuel pressure. Its 55psi ok? Anyway.. Car does sound like it idles better than before.

I was surprised to find no fuel leaks!! WOOHOO!

Dyno time is Wednesday at 6pm. When I get back, I WILL post a dyno sheet for at least 24lbs of boost. Not sure if I can get race gas in time for higher boost.

Ill probably have more questions.

Oh and BTW, I didn't shave down my valve cover like Super20g did and the new plate doesn't seem to leak. Ill find out more under boost.

Thanx in advance.

here is another question.

when i did rev it.. the fuel pressure dropped to about 46psi from 55psi. any thoughts about this? should have i set the base fuel pressure without vacuum supplied to the 1:1 reg or with vacuum?

thanx
James

The base (or static) fuel pressure is set by removing the vac line to to regulator. The idle fuel pressure is your fuel pressure at idle (with vac line connected).

It seems to me like your static fuel pressure is set pretty high, which is probably why you're sputtering. I run 45 PSI static with an Aeromotive 1:1 regulator and Accel DFI. The original DFI instructions say to set the static to 40 PSI so I'm assuming Bill used a similar fuel pressure for the PortFuel system (yes, I run a higher fuel pressure on purpose).

Since you have a wideband, why don't you adjust your fuel pressure until you see respectable idle AFR? What is your wideband showing at idle anyways?

Bill said something between 40-45psi, just can't recall the exact number. If you can set it closer to that range, your good to go probably, because he knows I am running a 1:1 with no adjustment screw, and I idle at 43.5 I think last time I checked and he said that was fine.

You got instructions? Lol, I just got how to hookup the 'port fueler module', which is common sense.

Good luck, watch your gauges like a hawk if your already jacking up the boost.

As for the valve cover... it may have been alright without removing material, but I just preferred a gap between the vc and fuel rail, so thats why I cut into it... Not a big deal though.

i believe 43.5 is exactly what you want it at for idle. then it will be 67.5 under full boost

Bill's 'website' says "PortFueler idles @ 50 PSI, not a low 20 PSI or less where fuel injectors just can’t spray well."

But that is not what I was told, so I guess your fine dood, just look at the wideband I guess

Im going to call and talk to Craig about it this afternoon.

Also... can someone please still explain the methodology behind the 8 inj. setup? Like.. 1lbs of boost = ?? or something along those lines?

thanx
James

1lb of boost = 1psi of fuel pressure. it's a 1:1.

With a setup like this, fuel pressure is not as important. You control all the fueling by adjusting the pulsewidth of the injectors, not by jacking up the fuel pressure.

Not exactly correct there bud. Don't give half-assed guessed advise about stuff you don't know.

The fuel pressure changes through vacuum as well ya know.

I actually didn't have it hooked up. I did watch the apexi one for a general idea and it was all over the place. Anywhere from 13.2 to 16. I probably didnt' give it enough time to warm up.

james, on your receipt, did they charge you seperately for the fuel fittings, line? I just spoke to craig, and he was like, they didnt add that line item on the ticket... you need to call sales and pay them some more $$, lol. Ehh, what part of 'give me everything i need to get this up and running ASAP' do they not understand? emoji

I suppose it depends on how much you paid. I didn't even ask for a receipt. When I talked to Bill I just asked for everything and I got everything in 2 packages. I bought the DP at the same time. The total was about 1300 bux.

hmm, mine was a grand, and the fuel stuff isnt included it looks like, or the software. I found the fuel injectors 30 bucks cheaper online, so i might just return hahn's set get a credit, and apply the extra 30 towards the damn fuel fittings/line emoji

Did you get install instructions? other than for the AIC unit.

I run around 43 psi at idle, with the vac line connected to the 1:1 Also, Doug is right about the pressure, dont assume if you run 43 psi at idle and you run 10 psi boost, that your pressure will be 53 psi. Whatever your static pressure is(0 psi), then add approx 1 psi fuel pressure to 1 psi boost.

you guys are running different boost settings than hahn's 27lbs setting. I have understood that the system works off of boost pressure not rpms like the afc so if all i wanted to run is like 20lbs or so on pump gas i would be fine? Would the fuel curves be correct enough for that? Ive done several searches read lost of post went to several links and on gs turbo as well and i just want to make sure my understanding is correct?

Hey man, He's got kids to feed! I don't see any problem with it. The system works good I'm sure and I'm sure bill will provide all the tech support. Building an 8-Injector setup brand new isn't cheap either. emoji
