#76745, "safe boost?"

Im just curious how much boost i could safely run with a HRC stage II w/ FMIC on a 420a with no other modifications except for a 2½ inch cat-back exhaust...

also, about what is the MAX boost i could run, like say on a track, before i started breaking stuff?

i have a 99 GS 5-speed with 57,xxx miles.

please dont flame, searching only brought up what other people were running on a normal basis, not what the motor can safely handle on a track.

For what its worth.. The guy i bought my HRC stage 2 from ran 7 psi for 3 months and blew his motor. I installed it and ran 7 psi for a year no problems. Turned it up to 10psi back in January and it still runs great. Taloniized ran 10psi with a Star kit for 3 years before blowing his stock motor. It all comes down to what you want to do. Do you have money for a rebuild in case you blow your motor?

i ran 11lbs of boost on a stock motor for about 9 months then popped it. no matter what.. start saving your money for a rebuild because its not "Will it happen?" its.. "When will it happen?"

You just need to ensure that you tune it right. Get professional help if needed, don't tune by idiot air/fuel lights.. at least tune by egt and a narrow band o2 reading, and lastly... KNOW YOUR FUEL PRESSURES!
