Will retarding your timing on the exhaust 4 degrees and 2 degrees on the intake cause a lopy idle. I just got a boost controller and my 8 injector setup and I was driving around for a few days and everything was fine except for a boost leak. I wend for a drive this morning and I was running 18psi and I got a boost spike of around 21psi. When I slowed down the engine was racing for a while without my foot on the gas. When it stopped the idle began surging. It goes from 1000 rpm to about 2500 then back down and it does not stop. It drives fine except for the idle. When I popped the hood and checked all the vac hoses they all seemed fine. I looked at the cam gears and it seems that they both slipped. They are now 4 degrees retarded on the exhaust and 2 degrees retarded on the intake

Thanks I will try in the morning. What are you using now as far as settings and cams. I had a pair of crane turbo cams and I never put them in and sold them. I am thinking about buyng another set of cams now. I am looking to see what everyone has now and trying to decide.

Try reseting the cam timing to 0 and make sure that it can idle properly first. As far as adjusting them, the general consensus is that you don't really want to touch the exhaust timing too much because the camshaft position sensor is mounted on there.

I'd do a compression check too, 21psi is pushing it.

Shorten the boost controller vacuum lines to under 12" total, or get a better boost controller that won't spike.
