okay, i need to order a kit now and i cant keep waiting for the NER kit especially considering its 2 months late already and we havent heard an actual release date forever. so can someone tell me if im excluding anything in the following list of differences between the Star and NER kits, because i may go ahead and get the star kit and swap all the parts from the NER kit.
1 - different manifold (i can deal with this i guess)
2 - S-FMU vs. FMU (how much am i looking at to reprogram or upgrade the FMU to the SFMU)?
3 - Flex section in the DP (cant i just order the NER DP when it comes out and bolt it in place of the Star DP)
4 - Inline pump (how much to swap to this in place of the intank? i heard wyatt is selling the kits with the inline if you prefer it as well as selling them with flex sections in the DP, if this is true does anyone know how much extra both are?
what are you guys opinions on this, should i just wait on the NER kit anyways to avoid install complications and reinstallation of other parts? im not comfortable ordering from wyatt considering no ones heard from him recently and i havent heard a date on NER yet, i cant get in touch with shaun.
does anyone on the inside besides shaun (saber?) know anything about NER's release that can fill us in. theres clearly a long list of people waiting, several of which (myself included) who will buy the kit in its current untested state. (i know all the parts work because they are already manufactured parts except pipes and manifold, c'mon)

When are they gonna fix this shit?

not to knock on NER but I think I am going with the HRC kit. I kinda like the fact that they have a tech support and that it has been throughly tested. I believe the fitment is also better unless proven wrong.

I too grew tired of waiting for the release but would still like to see what NER has to offer since they are competitive with their pricing not to mention the customization capabilities associated with the kit. However they are already about a month late from their original projected release date. Who's to say that it will be ready by the end of the year. I need boost now damn it.. emoji

Like Cyan said about being uncomfortable with Wyatt disappearing from this board and Shaun being hard to reach. Their actions raises doubt in my mind about me handing them 3K for a turbo kit. Once again someone prove me wrong.

Perhaps it might have been a personal emergency, but atleast a short email or a post explaining what's going on is better than no answer at all (god I sound like my GF....." atleast you could have called " I understand Shaun is a busy man, but part of doing good business is meeting the dead lines. That's reality. You only get one chance to make a good impression. ya know what I am talking about.

Maybe it is just me but do anyone else feel this way? Once again for those of you who know me, I am not afraid to speak my mind. If I am wrong, I will take the time out to apologize. I do not like to talk smack about others, especially one of our own, but being riped off is not a funny matter. Trust is hard to earn. Once broken, it is forever lost.

anyways I think I have blabbed on long enough and I'm tired (getting too old for this shit) so I will go to bed. see ya.

I have to agree with you kaiser. I was so lucky to be able to get a used HRC kit from someone here in florida. I would probably have the star kit if wasnt for MWC. And as for waiting for the NER kit....There is no way I could wait any longer. Most people have been waiting and saving for months already before they have the opportunity to get the kit. When the time comes and the money is there I would go ahead and order the HRC or Star. The NER kit is probably good but it cant be THAT much better. It isnt hard to get more hp out of a turbo. Its just a twist of a knob. Manifolds and turbos are just about all the same. The important thing is that you have boost. And BOOST IS GOOD!!!!!!!

>1 - different manifold (i can
>deal with this i guess)

Do you really think the manifold is gonna ultimately hold you back from power production? are you creating a 500hp monster? The Star manifold is durable which is more important at this point.

>2 - S-FMU vs. FMU (how
>much am i looking at
>to reprogram or upgrade the
>FMU to the SFMU)?

I wouldn't call any of it programmable as both are mechanical. Dont be fooled by the "fuel management" titles they are just regulators. Ones adjustable and ones not. The FMU is $150 and the SFMU is about $300. You can use a regular adj regulator ($130-150) inline before the FMU to adjuste idle fuel pressure and purchase a recalibration disk ($30)to desired boost/fuel ratio (or you can just buy the SFMU for $300 to adjust everything and sell the FMU. the SMFU uses recalibration disk also. Wyatt offered to substitute the SFMU for the FMU, it will cost you extra of course.

>3 - Flex section in the
>DP (cant i just order
>the NER DP when it
>comes out and bolt it
>in place of the Star
>DP)

No you cant. Different turbo mounting location (different exhaust manifold) means downpipe wont fit. From the pics they are not in the same location. NERs is located symmetrically and Stars is more to the drivers side. You can just add a flex section to the star downpipe.

>4 - Inline pump (how much

>heard wyatt is selling the

>know how much extra both
>are?

I know some of the kits he sold after the group buy came with inline pumps at no extra charge (and it shouldn't be as they dont cost much if anymore). Reasonably sized fuel pumps are cheap ($80-150 although you can overdue it and pay $300-500). You wont go to the poor house adding any of this stuff you want.

You pretty much answered that on your own. You want security just get the damn hahn and polish it up to your liking.

Here comes that question again.

Why? Are you planning on making a 500HP monster?

If not, then an internal wastegate would do just fine. Even if it looks nice, dude, it's still gotta get you home. Tech support is enough to offset the extra cost of this kit.

Doesnt Hahn have an internal wastegate on his 11.5 second RS? I know he has a bigger turbo but still an internal wastgate. So i think it can handle the high boost.

I think both kits are well tho...but I do have a frn that ordered the Hahn kit a long time ago that had problems 1)You hafta use your bottom section of the header pipe = welding, kinda looks 'not clean' 2)Had to take off his A/C cuz the downpipe was gettin to close ( might be also cuz he has a fat ass APEXi FMIC) 3)Tech support blew him off 4)Doesn't look as clean as the Star. I don't know how it is now, but boost is boost.

yeah id like to take the motor to the level of the rest of the car, which would equate to several hundred HP, but lets be realistic, im not gonna get this done soon, i just want the external WG for the underhood appearance and the sound. plus id have to chrome hahn's piping and polish the compressor anyway, 2 things i can get from NER from the get-go

When are they gonna fix this shit?

i know i don't have a turbo but i thought i'd add my 2cents. hell i don't even have the cash right now, i'm getting me a kit though emoji , anyways, isn't the external wastegate more efficient? not sure if it is but i think i remember hearing that. and the NER kit sounds awesome as hell.....just when are they going to release it? i mean first it was may, then june maybe july...well....hate to tell you this but july's just about up and there hasn't been anything. if someone talks to Wyatt or Shaun, aske them to post something. i might not get one right away but it would be good to have it released before i give someone money. and that way it would be tested.

Internal wastegates have perhaps two flaws: size and location but not neccesarily either.

1)Basically the valve releases into the turbine area where the exhuast is already flowing. The wastegate gases entering there can cause a restriction and disruption to the exhaust gases. Even if an external wastegate is plumbed back into the exhaust further downstream is better. On the other hand some internal wastegates have the valve in a housing isolated from the turbine exhuast initially which isn't nearly as restrictive/disruptive as some other designs and you dont have to worry of going through the trouble of plumbing piping back into the exhuast (if you want to attempt to be emmisions legal and not get a $1000+ ticket).
2)As for size if there is no boost creep its big enough. External wastegates can be too small too but it takes no genious to see an external wastegates in general can do a better job of handling high hp if neccesary. Externals go from 35mm on up. Deltagate is good for 400hp. Apperently so is the Super 16 and 20Gs from Hahn but that is atypical of regular 20Gs which most shops say must be run with an external wastegate.

Am I bored or what?
