#76064, "Can you use an MSD 2 Step to retard timing?"
Here is the deal. I am wanting to jet my N20 to 120. I have been thinking how to retard the timing on demand. If a 2 step can be used, I can rig it up on a relay to swap retard settings. The relay would allow me to set up the 2 step to be switched when the nitrous is armed by the switch. That way I can run about 4 degrees of retard when it is armed...and go back to stock when it is not. I know that I can use the DIS-2 to back the timing off, but I do not want to run with the timing retarded all the time.
Before you ask I do have the necessary mods to run that level of N20. Timing adjustment is all that I am missing.

the thing is that I already have a 2-step from a previous car. I really need to know is how I would wire it up in order to work in the harness. This distributor-less ignition has me pulling my hair out. I have a 6AL that I cannot use because of it.

switch 3 on the msd-2 will let you pick which rpm you want the retard to begin, set it to begin before the rpm your going activate your shot.....the settings start at 4000 and end at 7500.Your timing wont retard at crusing RPMs unless you cruse above 4000 and will begin only at what you set it for. You don't want the shot below 3000 rpm anyways so I'd activate your shot on a rpm window switch ......example 4000 rpm retard begins........windowswitch activates shot 4500rpm and shuts off at 7000 rpms.It sounds like the msd-2 will work for you if your just worried about the timing not being retarded all the time.I'll email you the setting instructions if you want to check them out or something.
