Im reading on these aftercoolers or air to water cooler. Basicaly its a tube that has water running around it to cool it down. I read in the lastest sport compact car, they can have a higher efficanty then an intercooler. And if you used ice water, it can get even cooler, So the big guestion is, do you think it would be good for a HRC stage I? All that would have to be moded would be the pipe after the blowoff valve. Hows it sound?

From what I understand those are strictly for track usage. You have to fill up the thing with ice water. I dont think ice water lasts very long driving on the street.

I think they're a lot more expensive than air to air intercoolers. That's why people don't use em so much. You can use a water squirter like on the LanEVO and it'll work just as good as a air to water. That's what I'm planning to do with my intercooler project.

They are for track use only despite Vortechs aftercooler (and some other mustang supercharger manufacturers that use simular designs). Basically without cold fluid CIRCULATING through it the effeciency is worst than an air to air intercooler once the fluid heats up. Unless you have some sort of seperate pump and circulation system that removes the heated water, cools it and recirculates it, its only good for short spurts where the fluid doesn't have time to heat up. Mounted underhood that shouldn't take very long.
The aftercooler was a design of space efficiency not common sense (its for a honda hehe). With a vorech supercharger they could have designed an air to air just like a turbo. What they designed was something that can be made over 100% efficient on the dyno (cool the air actually lower than ambient) but wont work as good as an air to air during normal daily use (probably why SSC only got a 14.4sec 1/4 mile yet a dyno of 282hp @ the wheels now that I think about it). With it your car should always be faster at the track (with cool fluid) then on the street (with the hot ass underhood fluid thats gonna be in there). I'd imagine it also make for inconsistant perfomance as temps keep rising and cooling from start up to shut down.
