1. What is the ideal size I need? I got a "L" shaped bracket that is 2" on both sides. Meaning the horizontal portion of the "L" is 2" long and the vertical portion is also 2" long. The "L" metal I have is 1/8" thick. I plan on welding it to the FMIC but is the 2" high enough to attach to the car? Or do I need to weld a longer vertical piece?
2. ALSO....Does the intercooler piping have to be attached to anything by any brackets or is the couplings enough to hold it in place?
Sorry for all the questions about this but I am doing this saturday so I want to be absolutely ready.

I think 2" should be ample. (Mine might be 3" tops...but it can't be that much different) I can't remember mine being much longer than that. The trickier part of my install was the lower part of the vertical bar that has the hood latch was welded at one of the bolt points. I was so "happy" when I noticed that, I was cussing like a sailor. I've heard of other people notice this too. I needed to detach it of course so that the cooler lines in front of the radiator could be placed behind the vertical bar.
Besides that though, I just had to supply a good fitting bolt and nut to hold the intercooler at the hole location. > > >2. ALSO....Does the intercooler >piping have to be attached >to anything by any brackets >or is the couplings enough >to hold it in place? >
Nope, it's all friction fit. I did use some tie wraps here and there, but they haven't been necessary nor crucial. Witht he normal torque and moving the engine has anyways, you don't want the pipes latched down too much anyhow. They won't go anywhere so long as your pipe connections are all stable.

What he said except I didn't notice any hood latch interference in my case (I also dont have the bumper reinforcer in place although I cut it to fit. just to lazy to put it on.). I didnt' measure my L bracket at all. I only had one piece of metal in the shed I could use. Its about the size you described.
