what is the best size intercooler for a 98 gs? i want the biggest possible intercoller without haveing to cut my bumper up or any supports. and what type of inlet/outlet works best. i mean like both on the same side, on different sides but one on top one on bottom, on different sides but both in the middle? i hope you guys can understand what im saying, its kind of hard for me to explain. thanks.

If you want the biggest intercooler without cutting anything then you will be getting the smallest one. I assume since you mentioned the bumper your talking front mount. You will have to cut no matter what you do. As far inlets and outlets go, just about any position can be made to work with custom pipes and whatnot. Depends how much your willing to do. If you don't want to cut I'd think side mount.

I have a fairly small one compared to the FMIC Hahn sells. Heres a pic of mine:

As you can see if is only slightly taller than the bumper cutout/hole. But the length isnt as long. I DID NOT have to cut my bumper either but I DID have to take out the 5 mph bumper support. Has to be done man, sorry.

I got it from boostcoolers who is a guy on ebay that makes them himself. If you want to save yourself a TON of headaches I say get the FMIC with both endtanks on the drivers side of the IC. Its the easiest way.

MODS:

HRC 16g turbo kit, Spearco custom FMIC, Custom IC piping, VT rebuilt engine: Custom 8.8:1 compression CP pistons, Eagle connecting rods, Melling oil pump, Clevite bearings, 370cc injectors, Vortech S-FMU, Apexi N-1 catback exhaust, AFX UDP, Autometer boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge, EGT gauge, Corbin's digital A/F gauge, Tokico Blue shocks, Tein springs (1.5" drop), 18" Konig Verdicts rims, VIS stock-style Carbon fiber hood

The best and easiest way to do it is to buy HRC's intercooler kit. It comes with all of the pipes, hoses, and mounting stuff. The thing is HUGE too, but you HAVE to remove the 5 MPH bumper. Hacking it away would be kind of useless, because I doubt it would withstand any sort of impact after you cut most of it out.
