#75030, "Engine Specs. for Turbo, HELP"

Ok, so here is the deal. I am dealing with a Japanese company regarding a turbo set-up for my Eclipse GS. They will be custom building a turbo just for my car. I just need the following questions answered and sent back to them so they can build it. I will be honest and say I know a lot about cars but nothing about turbo's or engines. So I am asking the people who probably know the most, you guys. Here goes:

1999 Eclipse GS
Current Engine Displacement (in CID or Liter)?
Current Engine Configuration (V6 or I4, etc)?
Engine Operating RPM (most impt. rpm range)?
Engine Volumetric Efficiency (if not known, give normally aspirated horsepower)?
Vehicle Weight?
Desired Boost Level?
Desired Horsepower Level (total, not additional)?

The car will be strictly a show car, not raced. Thanks guys.

Any reason you are having a Japanese company build a turbo kit for your Chrysler engine? There are already companies that have kits for our cars that work really well. Here is just one of them...

I am having a Japanese company build a custom turbo for the car because it is free. It is a full sponsorship, they will be using my car as a demo vehicle for their turbo. They strictly sell turbo's, and thats it.
I am very aware of Hahn Racecraft and aware of many of the problems those kits encounter as well, so I figured it would not hurt to build my own kit and have a custom turbo built to the vehicle specs. The only problem is, I don't know everything, they need to know. I figured who best to help me, then a group of guys with the exact same car. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Now. I have gotten a few answers from that info and thank you. I just had a few questions that were not answered. What is the Engine Volmetric Efficiency, desired boost level, and desired horsepower level? Thank you guys. You have been a big help so far.

Well going from info in this thread --> http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=32&topic_id=91&mesg_id=91&page=

Looks like VE for a stock motor is 80% at 5000 RPM. At least thats the way i read it emoji

As for desired boost and horsepower level, i dont think that is a question we can answer for you. What is YOUR desired boost and horsepower level? emoji

Thats just it. I really dont know much about boost levels to be honest. I am gradually learning. I don't know what a safe but productive boost level would be and I dont know what kind of horsepower it would gain. Since a ton of people here have converted to turbo, I figured somebody may know an optimum boost level and a realistic horsepower increase may be. Thanks again.

Your question is extremely vague. No turbo setup is identical to someone elses here. Do you have a shortblock being built with forged internals? What about your future fuel setup? When doing a custom kit there are alot of variables. I suggest doing some research on turbo systems and spend some time in our archives reading. Boost levels and WHP numbers are obtained through a properly contructed turbo system.
