#74845, "Hahn Port Fueler - Possible Emissions Advantage?"
Aug-06-04 03:45 AM by KTECLIPSE

Since all the hype of the new Hahn Port Fueler, I was driving into work this morning and thought of the following. I myself am very excited about the new Port Fueler and can't wait to hear some reviews on how well it works. I just hope that Hahn will compensate loyal customers who have already bought new injectors from them (390 cc/min). I am sure the unit can be programmed to different size secondary injectors according to how much boost each person plans to run (or you can do it yourself using the additional software package). I'm assuming (hoping) the manifold and programmable unit would be in the $500 to $600 range (without any injectors).

For many of us, we have to pass an emissions test every two years (at least in New Jersey). Since the Hahn port fueler runs the primary injectors at stock fuel pressures, wouldn't the car run very close to stock emissions if the secondary injectors were disabled temporarily? The test here in New Jersey requires your car to be put on a dyno and run at 30 mph cruising speed. As long as the car is not boosted, you shouldn't go lean, and the car should run similar to a stock motor (except for the built motor compression change).

Any thoughts? It is very good to see alot of excitement back on the 2gnt board!

Yep, As long as your exhaust is up to par. And I would just unhook the wastegate actuator arm from the flapper so that the turbo can't spool up.

You should have no trouble passing tailpipe emissions with this system. That is an advantage of the 8 injector systems. Power when you need it...stock driving and emissions when you don't. I've passed VA emissions with a similar system...no problem.

8 injector does make it easier to do that... but I can tune a 4 injector system to pass emissions also if I want to...
But I don't need to.. emissions is visual only in my area of PA... plus my best friend has his inspection licence... emoji

That's definitely cool. I can't wait to have a car that drives like it should because of better injector control as well as correct spray pattern at the recommend injector fuel pressure. I definitely like how it is a bolt on affair (no drilling of the manifold).

I know anyone can pass an emissions test with the proper connections but I was referring to legally passing the test.

It's going to be a little more pricy than you are thinking . And no, you'll just have to sell your injectors on eBay or something. I talked with Bill about it and he sounds very sure of himself on this system, so it sounds like it will be a great (& simple) solution to make some high psi runs emoji

Incase anyone doesn't know, he'll have the RS @ the shootout.

I wish I could, but unfortunately I scheduled an outting for next weekend before I relized what I had just done.. I can't back out, so I am gonna try to get everyone to drive to the Shootout with me instead, but I don't know how that will go over.. I am pissed cause I will be inbetween summer session 2 and fall session, and I am off all weekend.. so yeah.. I am a retard... but no, the car wouldn't be back together yet because I am going to wait until I sell the DFI and install the port fueler before I put the head back on probably.

You wouldn't like us.

I idle on 625's @ 43psi when my car actually idles (or runs at all).

I get a great idle with my 720cc injectors as well. It's all about fuel management.
