Can I do this? Or will I overheat with turbo, my turbine is realyl close to the radiator, and so is my downpipe. I know it comes on with the AC, but does it also come on when the car gets really hot?

I don't think so, I havent looked at the wiring but I remember from way back when that it is only used with AC on.

I ran without the AC fan for awhile when I had a stock radiator. I would overheat when the outside temps were 85+ degrees and I let it idle more than 5 minutes (not from a cold start, but after it reached full temp).

So its not a good idea then? Also if I made a heat shield for the turbine, will that keep the fans from melting, I would say the turbine is about 2 inches or so from the fan, and the downpipe is about 5 inches or so away, see a problem with this?

The A/C fan WILL come on if the coolant temps reach a certain level. I know by datalogging, that the driver fan comes on at 206 degrees. I want to say the other can come on around 215-220 degrees. If your cooling system is up to par, and its not like 100+ degrees out, that ac fan should never really come on. I wired my ac fan to be on at all times, so if i should use the ac, its already on, and also, the extra air cooling the radiator constantly is a good thing. This way, if the temps ever got too hot, at 206 degrees then BOTH fans would be on. Its a great setup IMO.

I would recommend to shield your turbo and your fans. Or else...

You can do it without any problems... I have never had the AC fan or condenser on my vehicle since I built the car up.(5 years ago)
