#7466, "How Long have you guys had your turbos?"

I was talking to my friend about turbos, and he said that after 2 years w/ an aftermarket turbo the turbo and the engine goes to $hit. I think he's full of $hit, but I want to make sure.

-Is there any truth behind that?

-How long have you guys had your turbos? Have you had any problems w/ them?

Thanks

I've had mine for 1014 miles. I guess I can't really add to this subject yet, she's running great though. Besides, if she goes out after 2 years, screw it. I'll either sell it or get a new motor. emoji

My 98 has been turbo for 8K miles, about 2 yrs now, I guess my times about up, huh? emoji Fat Chance! As long as you take good car of your car, you'll be fine, but if your one of those people that is like "well, its been half a year, time to change my oil" then a turbo might not be right for you...
Just my 2 cents,
Brad

Its been 4 months and 3100 miles for me this past Saturday. No problems to report. Still tearing it up.

I've gone from stage 1 to stage 2 since then. 4 months of stage 1 heat in the engine and still no problems....even in 95 degree weather.

My daily driver is a Nissan Maxima now that I sold my Nissan 240sx. I need a FWD car for the winters in Indiana, and its damn sure not gonna be my beloved eclipse emoji

BTW, to get this back on subject, as long as you prepare your engine to accept the added stress that the turbo will cause, you will be fine, just check fluids regularly, and enjoy! Turbo's arent a new invention...

I've had mine almost 3 years and have 30k on it (installed it at 10k). I have had problems, but this was way before any 2GNT.com or any other site with info was around, so I was tinkering blind. As long as you install it correctly and do some research you'll be fine.

Yeah, Np.. there's browse permissions on that directory, and there's actually a bunch of other stuff in there, if you'd care to look.
