#73779, "questions on bottom end"

im looking into building my bottom end. What pistons should I get? Im currently running a star stage 2 with Greddy Front mount. I have 450cc injectors and a 255 fuel pump. Can I just get pistons or do I HAVE to get rods at the same time? what else do I need to get? Rings? thanks in advance
Jim

Don't post the same thread in multiple forums.

a common rebuild is the following:

.020 overbored 8:8 JE pistons w/rings obviously
Eagle rods
clevite main/rod bearings

i'd recommend a new oem water pump as well as oil pump for a reliably built short block that will take it like a bitch.

once you rebuild the bottom end that is all up to you; providing you have the appropriate supporting mods. until that time, do not go past 10.

boost pressure (psi) isnt nearly as important as fuel pressure. remember that. after you have a built bottom end you want to worry most about the fuel, and then the sky's the limit.

6-8 is what you'll hear most often. Josh will tell you more though. emoji It's all about fuel, son.

I'd be thankful you haven't been flamed. We've all been green behind the ears, i'll give you some excellent advise. Read this forum until your eyes bleed, then sleep it off and read more. Your questions have been answered 1000x before. Not being a cock but you really should use the search function, it will save your life. We are here to help but you have to consider this board as a resource and use it to its full potential. Consider asking only when things you find in the search are unclear. I assure you there haven't been to many breaking things in the dsm world for a while and you're following the same road we all did. Good luck with your rebuild.
