#73470, "nitrous and fuel system ?"
Jul-04-04 10:19 AM by daniel992gnt

I am going to put nitrous (wet) on my 160whp NT eclipse. And i need to know, If i put a 75 shot which would put me around 210, 215 whp will i need an upgraded fuel pump. If so which one and how big. I already have the SAFC and am runing 24lb injectors. And running the SAFC on -7 to -9 to get a 13.7:1 burn. What should i do??? Will i be in danger of leaning out the mix and frying a piston? Or can stock keep up?

Get a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump if you put a nitrous injection system of any sort on your engine. On a stock engine, I'd say you're okay... but with 160whp it's time to upgrade.

Leave your S-AFC settings alone. Tap into the -4AN port on the passenger side of the fuel rail (remove the valve inside it first). I suggest the NOS brand kit (product number 5208) and use NOS's recommended jets for the 70 shot. The fuel jetting for the 70 shot is a little more conservative IMO.

Have fun with the nitrous!

so dougie you are saying to hook the Nos fuel pressure thing to the -4AN Port on the fuel rail that will take care of cutting into the fuel line? UMMMM I am not to smart about the nitrous thing. Need teaching!!!

That's correct. The NOS fuel line will have -4AN fittings on it. The capped-off port on the fuel rail is also -4AN. An auto store will carry a schrader-valve removal tool (usually used for tire valves). Remove the valve from the test port and get your fuel from there. No need to cut into your fuel lines.

Yup you need a schrader valve removal tool to take out the little valve in there and you will be all set.

so should i get the 255lb walbro pump just for safety. You know leaning out thing. Don't want that to happen, or will it be ok?

And thanx for the advice on the fuel rail.

o yeah and with a 75shot and 160whp what kind of E.T.'s you think i will run? I have slicks

We have no idea what kinda times you'll run until you get on the track and do it. I hate that question.

And yes you do need the updraded fuel pump. I'm not just saying that shit... I know it. Eclipse99rs- you don't need one because you're not putting down 160 hp at the wheels to begin with. Again, if you're stock or close to it then you won't need the fuel pump for a 75 shot... but if you're making good power then you need to.
