#73225, "Could the 034 EFI be heat sensative?"
Jun-28-04 10:16 AM by tim97rs

i moved my ground to clean bare metal last night. drove to school this AM and got 5 boost runs without problems, 3 in 2nd and 2 in 3rd. the Temp was about 77 degrees outside. after school (noonish) i got one boost run in 2nd without issue, then fuel cut from there on out. its about 90 degrees in the shade. i didnt change anything but the ground location. i have good connections to all my wires.

Could this thing be sensative to the heat?

What is your fuel pressure? At idle? Under your full boost? Have you paid any attention to it when boosting? Just curious..

FP at idle is 48-50psi with an aeromotive 1:1 FPR. it goes upwards of 60psi when i get on it regardless of boost or not.

my controller is inside the car. someone suggested that it might be getting to hot in the cabin where there is no air movement and might be retaining "heat soaked" type heat. (not sure he meant that description, but i know what he was talking about).
is there any possibility that this might be a probable cause?

i put it in the cabin because it didnt look water tight and didnt want to get any h20 in there when i washed the motor...

not to hijack the thread, but do you know the capacity size of injectors that the EFI can handle?
im wanna run 400cc primary / 450cc secondary...

Temp should not matter at all..mine gets pretty darn hot being in the engine bay, and it works just fine. I dont man, i'm starting to think you have a bad 034 unit. Something internal, like a bad solder connection or something..esp since you say it works sometimes, then other times it fuel cuts..

You get 60psi at 0psig? Thats way higher than mine. I get around 50 when I stomp on it. That may be contributing the the whole flooding issue you're having.

I wouldn't blame the 034 unless you can verify that it is the problem. Try monitoring it while you're going down the road. Is it reading MAP? How bout the tach? Do you loose the connection to it while driving?

yea, i posted about that a while back as to whether or not its normal for the FPR to rase the pressure out of boost or not. when i get on it without going into boost, my FP will rise to almost 60psi. At idle, i sit at 48-50psi.
with the stock injectors, can i lower my pressure to say 40-45 psi idle and still be okay for the factory computer? im not blaming the 034efi yet, i still have some other things i can check first, but it does seem weird that, without me doing ANYTHING different i can get boost 2-5 times without issue, then later on get fuel cut.
my tach signal is strong and verified by datalogger, dash tach and 034EFI, and i have the resistors inplace correctly. its reading the map pressure good as well. i moved my ground to a better place and still i get fuel cut MOST of the time.
