#72574, "has anyone else had this problem?"

I have an autometer pyrometer kit which has worked well up until recently. the gauge started freaking out, I found that the wire between the gauge and the probe had melted on the egr pipe. One would think that a gauge for measuriing temperture would use a wire that resists heat, and doent melt. Maybe the people at autmeter should look into this, seems like common sense to me. annnnnway, has this hapend to any one else??? if so how did you fix it/ keep it from melting?? anyone know where I can get some stainless shileded wire to replace the cheap melting autometer one??? TIA

Easiest solution is to not run the signal wire next to the EGR pipe. The signal wire is made to resist heat, but if it's touching a metal pipe that's 1600* it's gonna melt.

I will be re-routing it after work today but I was wondering if anyone makes a replacent wire that is stainless shielded like the probe itself or at least better quality to replace the existing one which is already damaged due to melting.
