#72234, "IT LIVES!!!!"

I just started my car for the first time after my rebuild and hrc install. It starts good, but my idle is awful. I have to keep my foot on the gas and hold about 1200 rpm. When I let off if just dies. I'm also having problems with the aux fuel pump. Is it supposed to run all the time? And which wire did you guys splice into? The only one I could find power one was the yellow and black one. I'm also blowing the fuse for the aux pump.

Oh, you don't like altezza's? Too bad, your gonna get a good look at mine.

for the aux pump you need to run a thicker gauge 10, 8, and use a relay. I just went ahead and did the fuel pump rewire mod and used that as my source wire for both pumps then used relays and the stock wire to trigger it. Running both pumps off the stock wire is a really bad idea as it wont be able to handle it and could starve the pumps for power, or worse cause a fire.

as for the crappy idle... whats your fp?

My fp bounces between 30 and 45. But I have a vac leak, when I plug it, it stays normal. The wire I ran is 16 gauge you think I need bigger? I'm afraid I have a short somewhere.

Come on guys, help me out here. My fp is weird. It shows on the gauge that its a little low, but it smells really rich. Do you think the gauge is trashed? Which wire did you guys splice for the aux pump? The only one I could find with power was the yellow and black one. Is that right, the book said it should be black w/blue tracer? Also since I spliced into the wire my low fuel light comes on, what would have caused this as well?

If the intank pump and the inline pump, share a line, that's not good.

Where did you splice into the stock fp 12v? I found the black with blue tracer under the fuel pump access area. It's there.

Well I figured part of it out. I had spliced into the wrong wire. I have the right one now, but the idle still sucks. If I rev it up a time or two it idles really ruff for a few minutes. But it sounds like a go cart. I double checked the timing and the marks line up. So what else could it be. The last time I tried to start it it wouldn't hit. I think I got the fp too rich messing with it. Any ideas or advise is much appreciated.

well when it comes down to, break it down you need fuel and igintion to run a car. You are having problems with your fuel pump now. Maybe you got that fixed. I would check the iginition I personally think its fuel, to much. Congrats on your rebuild emoji

what oil do you have in there? NON synthetic is a MUST, you're in the break-in period now, so proper break in is very important. you have an inline pump + the stock intank? the inline pump is set up (or shoudl be) to a relay on the stock pump's 12v and turns on when the stock pump cant handle it anymore, so i dont think the fp problem is because the inline.

as to smoke wisps from the dipstick, um...new engines do some strange things, but be wary

Yeah I have the regular Penzoil in there now 5w-30. And the inline primes with the stock pump then they both shut off. Then when I start the car and it SHOULD be idling both pumps are running. Is that right? It almost sound out of time. I'm debating pulling the timing cover off to see if its ok. Any advise for that Turby?

I haven't hooked the boost gauge up yet. The car is still on jack stands. I wanted to make sure it ran before I installed all my gauges. I need to out in the boost, air/fuel, and egt. I have a vac leak where the boost gauge tees off but I plug it with my finger and it helps only a little. My timing marks on the cam gears meet up but they seem lower than before I rebuilt it. Would this be a problem. I can take a pic if you need it.
