I have been thinking about getting a standalone such as a Haltech E6K or something. Is anyone running a standalone? WHich one work on our cars the best? Any recommendations for or against one?

I just want to get my money's worth outta my motor ( which I have not in the past year since installation )

Thanks
Jon

Your making 262whp on a 2.2 stroker and a turbo kit? What are your fuel mods already? Do you have anything at all to tune it with AFC, anything?! I dont mind the AFC2 just because I go to a dyno and hook it up to a wideband. That is my weapon of choice but i have a GSX. When I had my turbo 2gnt, I had a SAFC on and tuned it. It ran rather well.

Yeah there is the Tec3, wich is pricy, the AEM, Halltech..I was actually looking at the standalone from 034EFI, ya know, the company that makes the 8 injector EIC..they have their stage 1 ECU that will do fuel and DIS waste spark igniton..for around 1100..looks like a good setup/software anyway..Either way though, you will most likely have to fab up a trigger wheel on the crank pulley for the ignition..

That is probably the one good thing about the TEC3 ... there is already a UDP (unorthodox) that will directly mount to electromotives 60-1 tooth trigger wheel. You'd still have to mount the sensor though.

As far as standalone goes there is always the MegaSquirt for the ultimate DIYers. There is the MegaSquirt variant MegaSquirtN'Edis that will control ignition as well. Not the greatest resolution in comparison to the highend standalone systems since it uses a 36-1 tooth trigger wheel but the whole system only costs liek $300 in parts compared to the $3000 for other standalones. The one catch is that you have to completely understand it, you have to build it, you have to tune it.

Anyone ever heard of the standalone made by SDS? A few people mentioned it to me, but I cannot really remember what they said in entirety. Anyone else heard of something like that?

Also, with any standalone system, do you have to mount a trigger wheel to the crank pulley? Is that tough to do?

I don't think either do the EDIS hack (for lack of better words) to get the ignition control features on the MS to work. Though I'm sure either party wouldn't mind since it's only a few extra things to solder. Lee, *HINT* *HINT*!

If you want the EDIS mod that's no problem... in fact the EDIs mod "might" make the ignition circuit work better with our ECU even if not using the EDIS...

My EDIS 4 control module should arrive today or tomorrow... heh.
