My HRC kit that I'm installing was originally (sp?) a stage 2 w/fmic. The guy I bought it from sold the ic and piping and got the stage one piping. But he didn't get the 4-5 psi wg actuator. So I have installed Wiseco 8:8:1 pistons on the stock rods (for now). Will the 8-9 psi actuator be ok, or should I get a 4-5 one? Let me know if you have one for a reasonable price. I plan on adding a fmic in the future, but cash flow is gettin to be a problem. I'm hoping to have my car on the road this week, so please let me know something.

not to sound like an ass, people dont like answering this because there is no straight answer. Do some research and come to your own conclusion.
from what I can recall, and im not saying its accurate, just to lead you on the right path.
stock rods tend to start bending at 13psi. One uncudent of detonation and well, they start bending anyways, no matter what psi you are at.
most people seem to do ok up top 9psi, 10 would be the breaking point, this is true even more so for a bigger turbo like the STAR kits t3/4.
the bad thing about your set up is that there is no intercooler. I would say the 9psi is fine, but without an intercooler I wouldnt advice anything over 4-5psi ( 5 being my max) , thats IMO.

Stock pistons start to break when you run over 8 psi... but stock rods don't. My last motor ran 19psi daily on stock rods and wiseco 8.5:1 slugs... But you gotta take care of your fuel system...

damn, so i guess it would be a bad idea for me to raise my boost level from 5 to 8psi, this weekend when i go to the track, since i have no intercooler right, right?

I have searched, and searched and well you get the point. I just couldn't find anything for my application. By which I mean having the forged pistons. So you guys think I should drop the boost to be safe? Does anyone have a 4-5 psi wg actuator or a ic and piping for a decent price?

um.. remember that air is comming right off the turbo, very hot. you dont want that hot of air in the engine. for 200 bucks ill sell you the hrc smic, and the lower intercooler piping. you will have some nice det. with that high of boost with no ic.

if you want to run the track with 8 psi and no IC, just use high octane leaded race gas..but yeah, on pump gas, no more than 5 psi..the air is already pretty hot, but starts to get even hotter when you up the boost..

The higher octane is more resistant to detonation, that doesnt do anything about your stock bottom end mod. If you've been around here for a while you have seen the tons of guys who blew their motor from over boosting. Its just not meant to take it. If you want more boost build the block and run it. If you run more boost even with good gas your still playing with fire. Always err on the side of safety. Your rods and rings will thank you.
