#71411, "660 Fuel Injector Serious answers only please"

I've asked around a lot lately about the fuel injectors for our cars. Everyone tells me 660 are to big.

Has anyone actually tried these injectors in our cars??

thier not hard to run, and a couple people run them on here. but you need a standalone fuel to be able to adject the pulsewidth and control the injectors to idle.

True.

The largest injectors you can run with the factory ECU are 550 cc/min injectors, and that's with a minimum of an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and an S-AFC.

yeah but with running 550s, you *prob* wont need anymore then that. Those are big injectors, I have 650s and I am really leaning them out alot on 18 psi

i had some 660cc peak and hold injectors ,wired to a 4g63 resistor pack, on my car. with the idle fuel pressure at 20psi and my AFC leaned out by about 35% it idled just fine.

Do our cars batch fire or do we fire 2 at a time? By batch fire, I mean all 4 at once.

Neither. They are sequential, timed off the cam magnet.

try 1-3-4-2.

and yes, they all fire individually, just like all modern fuel injection systems do.

Since nobody else has asked, what mods do you have that you are thinking about running an injector that large??

I'm fabing a custom tubular header on a fully built engine. I have every expectation of hitting at minium 400 at the wheels. And if i can't get it I will have a bottle that will get me there. I want to build it once, and not have to redo anything. I want to know that when I get done I'll have the fastest 420a eclipse, or damn close to it.

I know that I'll prolly see like 2 pages worth of replies to this saying that i'm stupid or something. Unless it's an honest comment please keep it to yourself.

Money is not a problem, I work in the medical air industries in hospitals and smack, so I make bank. I got mad cash. NO I DO NOT WANT TO BUY A GST OR GSX.

By adding a 20G compressor to the turbo, installing an Apexi front mount intercooler, and remapping the programmable fuel system, we created Stage V. Debuted at the Battle of the Imports at Rt. 66 Raceway this past August, the Stage V Eclipse boomed to an 11.92 second, 116-MPH debut. The next weekend, it went five rounds to the final at the NOPI Drag Wars at Union Grove Dragaway in the 12.00 bracket, with a runner-up finish. But the best was still in store: a modification to the wastegate actuator then allowed a 28 PSI boost level in high stage, and further testing brought out 11.70's at over 120 MPH, with the best blast being an 11.72 @ 122 MPH! Estimated HP is now 475.

Cool man. I think it is so cool hahn claims to have fast cars but will only sell you up to a stage 2 kit. They also say they have no fuel upgrades for our cars.

Funk dat.

If your gonna advirtise it, sell it.

Like all posts i have made before this, the topic chances from one man asking for fuel system help, to talking about the setup and other no relavent things. I just wanted to know if anyone has successfully ran 660's in their car. If so, what kind of control was nessicary for it. Thank you.

I run 625's. I use an Accel DFI gen 6. Armond Lemon ran 720's. he also used an Accel DFI Gen 6.

I wouldn't bother trying piggybacks for the amount of power you're looking to make. That means screw the AFC, screw the emanage, screw the 034. Do it right and use a standalone (like a Gen 7), or at least standalone fuel control (like a Gen 6).

I believe our cars are wasted spark type, aren't they?

Meaning we fire two plugs each time. It's not what you said here. Am I incorrect?

I guess it depends on how much air your compressing there. For easier tuning you want to get away with the smallest injector for your setup. You will need to be a little more specific about how you plan to get to 400-500 hp.

400whp or bust.

Trying to run that large of injector using a rising rate FPR and a SAFC, really is not the best way to go about it..thats just me though..If you are really serious about making power, then you need the correct equipment to get you there, safely, and also letting you fine tune the setup. You should look into other means for fuel delivery/tuning, like a 8 injector setup(EIC), DFI, or standalone. You wanna play, you gotta pay..the more power i try to run, the more a standalone setup sounds better to me..having complet control of the fuel map is one thing, but having control of the ignition timing is another..lots of people forget about timing, which can make for a powerful motor, or one that blows up or falls flat on its face..this is just what i think, take it for what its worth..

use nothing but a stand alone... I've used 625's and am currently helping fab up an "old school" distributor, edis box, and Gen 7 DFI set-up with 720cc inj.

you will need something to offer total control.

is the gen 7 a full stand alone unit, or just for fuel. I mean, will it do my ignition to. I was planning on using a crane ignition to control timing.

GEN 7 is complete standalone and has timing control capability. However, I've come across a glitch which prompted the idea of adapting a distibutor and edis box. But I'll elaborate more when the time is right on that. If the money isn't an issue, invest in the engine management when using 660's.

You could also use a 60-2 trigger wheel, mounted on your crank pulley, i think.
