#71299, "Shot piston through block! Pics!"

Well today with all my recent good luck... I start the car with the ring lands already cracked in #1 and #4 cyclinders. And all I hear is a loud boom then clank clank clank. So I immediately shut the car off. Look under there see little chunks of metal.... Which looks to be pieces of my block and a piston! So I check the compression and its the same as before except cyclinder #1 = 0 emoji The compression was 0-174-180-120. I still can't find the hole that the piston shot from though....So I guess my options are to either part the car out or go with a VT short block I havent decided yet.... The block had a nice 5k miles on it too...but stock internals.

This is why you don't start your car when it's fucked up!
This is a leason for everyone else out there...

And why would you do a compression check AFTER picking up the piston? LOL, just seems a slight waste of time to me... haha.

Sorry about the bad luck there bro.

I put a big ass hole in my first block from sucking water up in it from a CAI. I got my insurance to pay for it by sticking the stock intake back on and saying that I drove through a deep puddle.

Stock pistons fail at that boost level.

Edit: And yes I know I am stating the obvious.

Luck of the draw emoji Sometimes they blow up fast somethings they last ya never know. We'll I'm buying me a 1st Gen TSI AWD for now until I get the motor built up.. if I wanna go back to the RS haha emoji
The t3/t4 also puts out ALOT more power at the 10 psi boost range then the HRC 16g does which is probably why it went bye bye

well depending on whats wrong with your engine you could still start it up. when I cracked my piston I could still drive it, just I tried not to as much as possible. That's why I got my Z.

Sorry for the loss emoji By the way, I ran a WRX STI at the track and I smoke him. And my turbo is a small TEO4H @ 10psi, similar to the T-25. It looks like that car is overated. If I were you, I spend the money on the Eclipse, new forged internals and a good fuel system. You will be spending less money at the long run emoji

Overrated? 300 horse is nothing to sneeze at, I'm guessing you lined up against an overrated driver. What times did you run?

Update on the car... Removed oil pan found that it was actually a whole rod that broke and went through the block. There was no rod at all in #1 cyclinder and looked to be a melted piston. The whole in the block was right above the crank so I'm hoping I didn't mess the crank up also....

Hence the reason my car will never see above 5 psi without a forged rebuild.

When running boost on stock bottom end, it is not a question of if it will fail, but when. Some last longer than others.
