#69843, "wicked hesitation before boost and worse after (searched)"

Ive searched the forum for about a day reading similar problems, but no one has the exact setup or combination of problems I do. From a WOT pull through 1, 2, and 3rd gears I barely get any hesitation. But from a rolling WOT pull in higher gears the car misses. Sometimes while cruising in vac I can hear it hick-up, and the transition from vac to boost can be rough every few times. It was doing this the few weeks before I installed my turbo. Suspiciously, this was around the same time I installed my 255fp and missinglink. It threw a p0108 code which is map sensor something. I took the missinglink out and the little cigarette butt looking filter is dirty, but I dont have any filter replacements. I dont know how important this is, it maybe the cause. Here are the other specs, its a T3 on a star stg.2 clone kit only boosting 4psi right now. The car idles with a fuel pres. of 4.0bar, 0psi is 4.0bar, and full boost is 6.0+ bar due to my 12:1 fmu. When the car hesitates I see my a/f go left to right rapidly on the gauge. On the pulls it doesnt hesitate its full out rich. Im thinking it may be excessivly rich, but dont see any way to tune it out. Any help would be impossible. I cannot drive the car into boost in 4th or 5th at all due to wicked stutter. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

You can actually wash the filter on the missing link with soap & water. When my filter gets dirty, I have trouble transitioning into boost. Let the filter dry thoroughly before reinstalling it, hope this helps.

Now, when I got my Missing Link, I didn't see any sort of this "filter" that yall speak of. Now, when boosting 8-10psi , it's fine. When I hit 11-12 I get a HORRIBLE bucking and the boost starts to drop. Almost like a HUGE fuel cut. I installed the Missing Link a LOOONG time ago. Maybe I should clean it out and try again?

i solved my misfire, turned out to be a bad neg. terminal to chassis ground. The filter looks like a cigarette filter, in fact in a pinch you can use one. Im getting some more tmrw but in the meantime Ive been using cut up bits of cig. filters and mashing them in that hole. I dont see how you can run without one. There's a horrible hissing and vac-leak without the filter. When I drove without one the car would damn near die between shifts and while idling.

You don't have to use the same filter that they give you forever... when yours blows out (like mine), or gets crummy from dirt and gunk, just zip tie a big piece of foam from the supermarket (often found with cosmetics) over the hole. Works fine.
