#6981, "Dangerously high EGT temps?"

OK, I just got my Autometer EGT gauge and probe installed--tapped to the first runner towards the driver-side (4th runner?).
I've read some archives on EGT temps, but I'm still a little unsure of what to look for.

1. CRUISING TEMP: On the freeway in 5th at 65-70 mph, I'm seeing 1350-1400 degrees farenheit. Is this normal? What temps are you guys seeing?

2. LONG PULLS (racing): I'm seeing 1400-1500 degrees at the top of 4th gear. Is this still pretty safe, or am I running a little lean.

If you guys don't mind, please list the different temperatures you're seeing under various conditions.

Thanks,

I see about the same thing. It's normal...(as far as I have been able to tell).

If only you could have seen my temps when i was running 7 and a half psi non intercooled.....LOL...I would have to let off the gas because temps were high. I was only able to floor it for about 6-7 seconds..but now at 6 psi everything is cool. Still cant reallly get on it hard though. But the fmic goes on in two weeks!!!!
