Well, we already did this. Wondering if anyone else did?
We bought to slim line fans, one already went out cuz it gets to hot under there...so we took em back and bought the best fan they had...its all Aluminum and it pulls over 3000 CFM! So that’s the only fan we have on there (it does more then enough)....
So then we took out my thermostat, since my fan is running all the time it will always be cooling the coolant down. It will just keep cycling it thro.
My temp never goes above 180 when driving - the ecu sees it’s colder - so I get more fuel...

wtf are you doing to your poor car? taking out the thermostat is not a good idea. what does MORE fuel do for you? make you run to rich as hell and slow you down. clogs up your sensors and most likely soon to destroy your 02 sensor. and besides, your car doesnt even get to operating temp, so the injectors just dump fuel. MY temp never gets over 156, with a howell 160 thermostat and water wetter.

Running with no thermostat is a bad idea... your car will take much longer to get up to operating temp... hope you dont like usuing your heater in the winter... because it will be way cold!
It's just a bad idea all around... why would you want more fuel anyway? If you do need more fuel, you want it in a controlled waY!

why is more fuel bad? with turbo, more fuel is better...
im gona test it for about a week, if theres any down falls, ill just pop it back in...no biggy..so far it works great...i love how it runs...
if not ill just go ith turbo8u's setup...the 160 thermo.
gata keep in that mani i have, gets really really hot, and we want to make sure everything stays cool, no overheating...
turbo8u - hey, i dont get it, you said i would be running to rich cuz im to cold - but my temps are a little higher then yours, around 165....i would be running just like you are?

hmmm, i have no clue dude. but if i were to take out my thermostat i guarantee it would never get up to 165. i'd just throw in the howell, you're not going to see any benefits from taking out the thermostat, honestly. and more fuel on a turbo car is not necessarily good, more fuel and more AIR will make more power, but with the same rated air flow and more fuel? you'll just be rich, and you'll actually not be making as much power as you should be. (whole point in tuning, or 'leaning it out' to get a good mixture of the air to fuel) 11.5:1 you'll see some good power

it depends how much the ECU is advancing timing based on map and temp combined...you would have to datalog to say its a gain. I agree its really not the best of ideas.

your theory behind lower temps are always good is logical but not practical. if your fuel injection wasn't dependant on the coolant temp signal then you'd be all set. your car will run like piss when you start it up until 10 minutes later it gets up to somewhere close to operating temp. you have your mani heat wrapped and have a 3000(holy shit) cfm fan, you will be fine w/ temps. i do not have my tubular mani wrapped and i have the stock radiator, one slim line fan (12" pulling 1200 cfm max) and the howell 160* thermostat and don't touch high temps even at the track. I think your fine w/ your stock setup w/ those few enhancements.

yea, well i got my 160 thermo today...i really hope this helps, becuase like you said, one 3000 CFM fan, and a 160 thermo, should be more then enough to keep it from over heating while idle

Damn, Ive gots to get myself this set up. I aways end up blowing something or something getting blown off on the coolin system after a long day of hard runs. I really like to know where you got that fan.
She's a good car. But it's time for me to move on. I'll miss her more than anything but my next car will have the same heart with the same passionate drivers. I hope things workout best for the both of us.
