Have any of you guys experienced this problem? RS Guy, I know you'd mentioned that sometimes you have intermitten startups; has yours gotten worse or the same?

About two months after the turbo install, I noticed my car doesn't want to start at the first crank, eventhough the starter turns. It'd go poop,poop (engine stutters and shakes), then it'd cut off. Sometimes, if I give it some gas it would stay on.

I'm not sure what could be the problem. A local shop installed a fuel pressure gauge to test the fuel pressure and it's like 29psi at startup, and it idles at 34psi--that's low isn't it? I think the car should idle around 40-50 psi, right? And, that's with the idle fuel pressure nob turned all the way up!

At this point, I'm not sure if the FPR is bad or if it's the fuel pump. What's the chance of a fuel pump go bad? Has anyone ever had this problem or knows what it is? Any help is appreciated.

I'm having this problem occasionally myself. It only seems to happen when the engine is cool and it's cooler than about 70* outside. It almost seems like it has to build enough fuel pressure to start. My engine doesn't sputter though, it'll just turn over about 5-7 times then start.

Passen tuned my fuel pressure on the dyno, so I'm sure they've got it pretty low. I think I'm going to up the idle pressure a bit, and see if that helps at all. If I remember correctly, they said my idle pressure was at 40psi, and at WOT fuel pressure was at 85psi. (5psi of boost)

Anyone else have experience with this problem?

i know exactly what your prob is.....i had the exact same thing. your fuel pump is not installed properly....check all seals and gaskets. be sure that the fuel line that is in your tank to the pump (only about 2" of line) is not bent or kinked in any way. it has to be perfectly straight. you'll probably have to modify the pump bracket to make it sit right. my car starts up perfect everytime after i went through this.

.....if you go to a shop for this don't pay anymore than $140 bucks for labor. but they will have all the gaskets and seals just in case your missing one.

What you are experiencing is your fuel pump not being installed correctly. I've reinstalled my pump many many times so I really have lots of experience with this.

Make sure your pump is sealed good to the bracket assembly. Don't use the crappy o ring to seal it. Modify the bracket to use a hose instead. (Unless you have the revised bracket.)

Hmmm, I've never changed or removed any fuel pump; Is it hard for a first-timer? I'm always afraid I might break something. I'll give it a try when the rain stops around here (Columbus, OH). I hope that it is the bad installation because a new FPR is pretty pricey.

I just installed a star stage 2 kit and had the same problem. The car would stall unless i gave it gas during operation. I found out that the fuel lines in the kit that run to the FPR where too short and where bent too much causing fuel to back up. I replaced the fuel lines and adjusted my idle screw and it runs like before.
