Does anyone have a picture of how they mounted their oil drain line/pipe on the oil pan to the bottom of the turbo? I recently blew a turbo and dont know why. I can only think that either A it did not get enough oil from the feed line but i cranked the engine and oil came out of the feed line into a jug or B the drain line is mounted correctly. I have my drain pipe mounted on the oil pan pretty high up on it and it it 'slightly' angled but not much. Also, the fins on the compressor were bent up and there was some shaft play in the turbo and some scratches by the fins on the intake side of the turbo and i only had the turbo on the car for like a week of driving. it was always turbo timed too. i could never boost over 2-3 psi, i thought it was my BOV and i rev'd the engine in the bay and i looked and it was opening and then the line for vac goes straight back to the intake manny. The line from the wastegate went straight to the side of the turbo so i wouldnt boost over 8psi! any information or pictures will help! thanks guys, im a newbe! thanks again!

Since you can't boost over 2-3psi, maybe you have a good sized boost leak in your piping. The turbocharger may have been excessively over-rev'd because of that.

Yes there was a boost leak every time i drove it. I made a boost leak tester and found out that i was leaking where the PCV valve hose connects from the valve to the intake manifold. i was leaking rigth there and fixed it. i did not know that you could blow the turbocharger from a boost leak! it was weird, sometimes the turbo would spool and sometimes it wouldnt and it made a real weird flapping noise... could this be from over reving it from the boost leak? man i didnt know that! help me out guys. i sent the turbo back to turbonetics and hopefully they will replace it but i need to know what to do so this doesnt happen again! i was barely hearing my blitz bov either, maybe cuz of the leak and a little 2-3psi when i was shifting. thanks guys and please still help me out though! does anyone have a pic of theur drain line though ... to be on teh safe side? thanks again. please keep helping!

thanks for the pic! my setup looks almost the same but it doesnt tuck behind that black bar, mine is out in front of it a lil' bit. i have never heard of a turbo 'over revving' though. is that possible from a boost leak to blow a turbo and get shaft play and some scratches on the intake side? thanks guys, please keep helping!

The only damage I have heard of from spinning a compressor wheel too fast is the blade tips fracturing or breaking when the tips reach the speed of sound. This causes a shockwave (sonic boom) that will resonate through the turbo, mainly the compressor wheel causing said damage. turbos do not require alot of oil to operate correctly so if oil was coming out of your feed line then your oiling probably was okay. What version turbo do you have? does it have ball bearing option? non ball bearing units will have some slight side to side play but should have little to no in/out play. The side play should not be so much that the compressor makes contact with the compressor housing.
