#68529, "IC blazing?"

My dad just got back with my car after driving about 40 minutes round trip. I went down to take a look under the hood to make sure a zip line was holding my block box still (it was knocking around) and my piping was VERY hot. I reached down and felt the IC and it was hot too. I don't mean warm, I mean hot. It's 74 degrees here so that could have a lot to do with it but still, I wouldn't have thought it could be that bad.

Nope everything checks out. I haven't driven the car today yet, it's been the first time it got into the 70's so far. My EGT's look fine. They hover around 1200-1250 on the highway which is a bit better than when I was stage 1. Maybe it was just heated from sitting there as the motor was cooling down.

How much is a datalogger anyway? Is there a universal one? And would I have to use a palm pilot?

i got my logger with PDA from some dood on ebay actually for like 80 bucks....i just had to register it under my own username, it works so good though dude emoji seriously, best investment ever. i used it most when installing my engine, got a few minor CEL's and its nice to be able to read em. its also nice to be able to log your car on a rip and see what shes doin, also....i proved in court that i wasnt speeding with it, and i also have a few kills logged emoji

bottom line, get one. imo.

and yea, the ic....130+ degree boost with 74 degree ambient flowing over it? thats not gunna be cool to the touch, understand heatsoak now?

Haha. Maybe I'm just too much of a turbo no0b here (Go ahead and laugh Josh), but it sounds to me like pops took the car for a wild one. That's a lot of boosting going on when you're not around imo. emoji

Jerry was a racecar dirver...

Brian might be right. I drove it to school today (45 miles) and it was cool to the touch.

Define hot, I know you said hot and not warm. My piping would get pretty hot after a good bit of driving. What type of metal is your piping. Im not pro but some metals might also abosord heat better then others.

I had EGTs in your range, you should be ok

you just got a IC right?

I love dino and 2gnt. ####ers (my word) bliz stole it but i let him borrow it

um...what do egt's have to do with intake air temps exactly

and yea, piping makes a difference too....steel pipes for example wont dissipate heat as well as alluminum will. why someone would have steel intercooler piping is beyond me though emoji

go out and boost around for a bit, then feel it...it should be warm. i always spray down my intercooler when i wash my car emoji just stick the hose in the hole in my bumper and give it some luvin

edit:

Well aren't cooler EGT's a result of cooler IATs?

As far as piping goes I have the HRC aluminum piping. The IC was warm when I got home today and was cool tonight when I drove around.

Thanks for the replies guys emoji mwah!
