The people that hate the cartech do so in good right, IMHO. It can't keep what fuel pressure the user set to save it's own inanimate life. My personal hatred for the unit was that it couldn't keep the desired idle fuel pressure. For me it wasn't small changes over long periods of time. It was very drastic changes over the course of a short jaunt around the block. The people that love the Cartech are actually favored by God in some sick drama that the creator has played on the world. For them it actually keeps the user's desired fuel pressures at WOT, Static AND idle. Go figure. But these people are few and far between. The last fraction of people that claim to love the Cartech FPR are all crazy imp-men (or imp-woman if that may be the case) that idolize shiney objects and let me assure you, the cartech is VERY shiney.

Built your turbo kit? I already don't like this guy. Sorry, no offense to you or anything but I'm going to hate him nonetheless from behind my interent anonymity.

You are very wrong. They operate differently (but have the same over all effect of bringing additional fuel) and the Vortech has an infinately better track record here at 2GNT. 3 of your best sources of information on building a fuel system (assuming you wish to learn) are www.google.com, www.geocities.com/vttalon/tech.html and the all mighty forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=search&search_type=advanced&select_forum=0.

The cartech comes with no springs or disks to install as it does what it's supposed to do out of the box (with minor adjustments from external valve adjustment screws).

I have 2 pieces of advice to you. You sound as if you have enough money laying around becuase you have someone else doing the work for you. Get yourself the Vortech and save yourself the grief. My other piece of advice is to better understand your fuel system and how it works. It's really going to suck when you break down no where near your mechanic (and I use the term loosely becuase I haven't seen his work AND he's using the Cartech) and you have no idea how to diagnose and possibly fix the issue. I'm a no0b when it comes advanced tuning and WHY alot of this stuff works how it's supposed to work. So you don't have to take my word for it if you don't want to.

Edit: On a more dubious note...I sense mototool lurking near. I'm prepared to get my ass reamed royaly for this.

Rereading that goes to show that spelling goes south when one is deprived of sleep. It's 8AM Arizona time and I have to be at work in a bit...ugh.

Wooo...well that’s your Opinion...

One side wants to thank you, because you gave me alot of good info, witch I needed...

What the fuck? do you have to talk to everyone that doesn’t no as much as you, or god for fucking bid had someone else build there turbo kit, because they lack to time and Knowledge?

Oh yeses...Sorry again...I shouldn’t even have turbo unless I understand EVERYTHING!
Well, ill be the first to admit…I don’t. I have learned a lot about the 420a thro out the whole process. I understand how turbo systems work. But my knowledge for fuel systems is diminutive. Im trying to learn, but I don’t need Mr. Elite coming along talking to me like im 3 years old.

I don’t have money lying around, obviously you are under the impression that you actually no what you are talking about.
I saved a half a year to buy the parts for my kit. Then the offer came to me to be sponsored. My car is the prototype car for his company, enhanced motor sports. THE LABOR WAS FREE. Yes, free... Don’t give me your eccentric opinions about why he will fuck something up because this is for free. But my money as always has been tight.

Well I have no doubt I was wrong about the cartech VS the vortec. I no shit about FMU’s in general. But thanks for the info! Lol

Well im sorry you think someone knows nothing because they don’t agree with you on the basis of a fucking FMU…llololol... I won’t even go there...

Im happy for the info you took so long to type for me. But it’s how you come across. You have to degrade someone as if they don’t know anything and your opinion is the only answer. A lot of people love the cartech. I just asked a simple question…

p.s my cartech isn’t shiny. Wonder if the gods love me then
haha..ha…h…uhhh…………oh….

I'm sorry, you must have taken me for a different mototool. I'll be the first to admit (and yes these means before you) that I am not the know-all for Turbo systems and their accompanying fuel setups.

Knowing everything wont do you any real good. However, understanding your fuel system would be a VERY good start for you.

This is exactly what worries me. If I knew I had to perform a service for FREE (meaning lack of compensation) I would be lack in work/craftsmanship. However, we'll all have to wait for the triumphant unveiling of this mechanic's crowning achievement.

That's OK becuase I will. I wasn't under the impression that we were at some sort of disagreement. More or less a 'quest for enlightenment,' if I may put it in more epic terms.

I know ill get flamed for this one... I contacted the cartech people and they told me that it was never intended to be used as an idle regulator. Just a riser, so thier advice was to use an adjustable regulator along with the unit to stablize the idle fuel pressure problem. I have had pretty good luck with my cartech unit. My pressure reglations are about 5-8 lbs difference 'sometimes'. Most of the time i check it, it is ok.

I wish I could have tried to rig it more before I ousted the system and try to make it work. GJ on getting it stable though. emoji

Take apart a Cartach, and take apart a Vortech SFMU. You will see right away which one is MUCH better..

honestly, i dont doubt that cartech is better then the vortech, really im asking this...If i run 11 psi, on 310's....

For a while, until i can afford a vortech, can i hold a *SOMEWHAT* stable idle fuel pressure, and will it hold up to my fuel needs for a while?

im sure ill go to vortech when i can afford it

I was actually one of the few who got decent Cartechs. I didn't have a problem with it at all for about 9 months. It stayed perfectly steady but then paranoia set in and I bought an S-FMU.

You are kinda missing some of the points here. I have looked into both because i need to build my fuel system better as well. Here is what i found from the cartech sites and vortech sites:

Cartech: Not to be used as a standalone fuel regulator and riser. they claim it will adjust the rising rate (12:1, 10:1 ect). It will not adjust idle pressure, it is to be plumbed in with the facotry regulator and used as a riser only. A bleed valve is for really fine adjustments.

Vortech: Will adjust idle pressure, Rate of boost (discs needed), max fuel pressure, and the vacuum pressure that the fuel riser will begin to rise. This is meant to be used alone with no other fuel regulator.

Now in my opinion why would you want to use multiple pieces to accomplish what one part can do. cartech claims to be the leading engineer in the fueld risers and regulators yet vortech makes a nicely engineered parts that simplifies your fuel system. The choice seems simple enough on which is better. here is what closed the decision for me....On ebay i was looking at cartechs, the one guy who sells them all the time (and new in box) i sent an email asking him how it can be compared to the vortech and what adjustments i would have with it...you want to know what his reply was?????...I do toooo he never replied and that was 1 month ago.

Vortech is the superior part man, the fuel system is the last part you want to skimp on....save yourself some headach and spend the cASH ON THE VORTECH.

if you go cartech keep me posted on the results.

If you really cant afford the vortech...search ebay and be patienty to get one used for around 150.00. i paid 255 but it came with multiple disks, most of the time they go for about 155.00. or go with a vortech fuel riser 12:1. that will keep you safe for under 10psi..its what the star stage II comes with and those go for 90.00 all day on ebay. still cheaper that cartech.

The cartech works fine for a stage 2 application. I am even using it for 16-17 psi. The problem I have with it is that I cant get the damn fuel pressure to go under 95-100psi. But With my 440's and 16-17psi I am doing ok. The cartech is inferior to the sfmu when you take both of them apart and compare the 2. The sfmu has better quality parts. If I were to keep my car I would get a vortech sfmu to replace my cartech. But I am selling my car and dont feel like working on it.
