hey im planning to turbo my 97 RS eclipse in the very near future. I still havent decided on getting forged internals first, or the turbo first(boosting like 5 psi). So lets say i buy a StarStage 2 kit, really low boost on a stock motor. What else, other than what comes in the kit, will be neccessary for proper function? All these electronic devices i've been looking at suchas Fuel managment, Turbo Timers, Boost Controllers. Eventually i plan on cranking the psi up to like 15-17 with forged internals. Just need an estimate of extra costs for those little gadgets and if I really need them!

required electronics: if you know how to tune, none
nice to have: turbo timer, $100 electronic boost controller, $200-500
stuff you DON'T want: S-AFC, $300
no one ever NEEDS any electronics to turbocharge a 420A. everything can be done mechanically, most of the time a mechanical solution is far better than an electronic solution.
of course you will need gauges, but IMO those doesn't fall under electronics. EGT, boost, and oil pressure are a must. fuel pressure is good for tuning, but not needed permanently. a wideband is very helpful too. stay away from any gauges that take information from your stock oxygen sensor. the stock oxygen sensor tells you nothing but lies.

He said it the very same post.

An S-AFC requires the owner to know what they are doing and it's benifits rarely measure up to the utter frustration on getting it setup correctly. It's not recommended in your case (or many others for that matter). 1 + 1 = tno uyo
