There has to be a downside to 8 injector set up, rather then going with a standalone or the other systems..

Whats the down side to 8 inj set ups?

The transition point when the extra injector controller comes online is the downside... it's impossible with the stock ECU still firing to have a totally smooth transition...

That's really the only real downside...

Although... because the EIC isn't using an Intake Air Temp sensor (Is it?) the ammount of fuel injected can never compensate for the temperature of the air in the intake system.
Fuel systems that use a MAP sensor (Speed Density) MUST compensate for the temperature variation of the intake air... this is because different temp air has different density... And thus the ammount of fuel injected must vary also...

This is just another reason why you cannot tune an EIC setup as close to optimum as you can a standalone setup... At least not with the EIC controller that everyone uses for the 8 injector setup.

Now if you used an Megasquirt to do the job... you could get a lot closer to optimum... but the best solution is still to use a standalone only... not having the stock ECU firing any injectors.

Yeah, not having temp correction is a downfall, but from what people have said, its not really a big deal, and they never have to retune for colder temps. From the people I know and have helped tune the 034, a smooth transition is def possible..just have to know how to program the values right..after all, the ECU will usually be in closed loop when you go from vac to boost anyway..

ECU goes into open loop depending on throttle position amoung other things... you can still be in vacum and have the throttle high enough to put you in open loop...

Not a big deal... but I'm picky.

I don't like to rely on having too much fuel just to compensate for the different air density that comes with changing temperature...
And it CAN make quite a difference to the fuel that is needed.

So while I'm sure an EIC setup can be tuned to smooth out the transition, and can be tuned so that the temperaute doesnt matter..

But this is far from optimum. And besides... a Megasquirt is cheaper... emoji
