I am getting a flap noise from somewhere in the motor. i thought it was from the turbo and i thought i could be leaking boost but all the couplings are tight to the i/c and no cracks in any pipes or anything. i was reading another forum and someone mensioned something about a flap noise coming from the wastegate due to it not opening or closing correctly. sometimes the turbo will spool and sometimes it wont ... it starts making this noise around 2-3k rpms and like i said the turbo spools sometimes and sometimes it doesnt and it ALWAYS makes this noise ... what should i do? how i do check to see if this is coming from the wastegate ... how do you see if its open/closing right? i have the hose from side of wastegate to side of turbo so i know thats right. i am using teh wastegate that came with the star stage 2 kit (turbonetics deltagate or something like that) ... PLEASE HELP ME! I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO/TRY!

Dude, how many threads are you gonna start? Holy piss. Try this, take your vac line off the wastegate and plug it, then nicely try to boost it.....don't go apeshit cuz you'll blow your fuckin engine. But if the problem goes away without the vac line on the wastegate then your wastegate has problems.

Have you ever done the boost leak test with the PVC cap or was that too hard for you to figure out?

Make sure the actuator arm is attached to the wastegate flapper.

um i dont have the top of the wastegate plugged with a vac line... in the directions it said not to plug that? should the top of it where it says vac be plugged with a 90degree fitting running to a vac source or where does teh vac line go to? maybe tahts why it isnt spooling all the time or boosting and why the BOV isnt working? so is that vac supposed to be plugged and tapped into a vac source? PLEASE REPLY ASAP PLEASE! thanks guys!

don't need it unless you're using an ebc/probably mbc...

there will be ... most likely a 5lb spring in there, and it will dump the exhaust at 5psi... UNLESS you have an ebc/mbc acting on it (vac line run to ebc/mbc)

Can I just ask... how did you get into this situation exactly?
