#67284, "General turbo question"

Since my eclipse is pretty much all done I figured its time to start turboing the "daily driver". I know its not an eclipse but I have a 03 tiburon v6. Im going to attempt a custom twin turbo on it. The engine bay is tight (not a lot of space) I can route the two turbos in different locations in the engine bay. So I well need two custom manifolds which is fine, but this leads to my question. Im figuring that the spool time might be a little different from one turbo to the next. Reason: exhaust flow might be better on one turbo then the other due to manifolds and length of the pipe. Am i going to run into any problems like this?

Dude, come!! i mean really.... dont you think you would be better served on a tiberon board with that question? we dont really get a lot of turboed v-6s over here on our little 4-clynder board.

Its more general then you are taking it... All Im asking is on a twin turbo setup on a v6 engine is it to be bad to have one turbo spooling faster then another one. (note: i think it would be ok with one intake manifold but im not for sure if it well be ok with two like my setup well be.) If everyones knowledge on this board only goes as far as the 2g non-turbo then I feel sorry for us all.

I think that one of the turbos will in fact spool faster. But this will only really be a problem imo, until the wastegate activates. one side of your engine will be working a bit harder. But i think it will be ok. Try to get someone to make you an equal length runner manifold for both sides. That will be spendy...

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

I agree. Fuel needs will be different for each side until you reach full boost if your manifolds are different. How much different really depends on the extent of flow difference between the manifolds. That's definitely not ideal, but unless you're really pushing it (assuming the manifolds are fairly close to similar), I can't imagine it would be a huge deal. However, that's just an educated guess, so take it for what it's worth. I'd prefer symmetry just for peace of mind if nothing else. And I'd definitely ask other places that have more TT experience.
